Samantha thought about how lucky Leonardo was. Who would've gotten a blanket this nice as a free gift? Even just touching it felt like a small piece of heaven.
She looked up with a hint of curiosity in her voice. "What did you buy to get this?"
"It was a limited edition. You can't get it anymore," came Leonardo's reply.
"Oh, I see." Her shoulders slumped slightly, and disappointment flickered across her face.
Leonardo glanced over, catching her look. He hesitated before asking, "Is one not enough for you?"
"I wanted to give one to Layla. It's been cold lately, and she loves curling up on the couch to watch TV. A blanket like this would keep her warm and cozy."
His expression darkened just by a bit. Then, he repeated himself. "You can't get it anymore."
"Got it." She didn't understand why he felt the need to do so. She heard him the first time.
Whatever, she thought. If it weren't available, she'd find a different one.
…
As the audition was fast approaching, Samantha began her preparations.
The rules were simple. Everyone had three minutes to showcase a talent—singing, dancing, juggling, or anything at all—as long as it showcased their unique flair.
She wasn't the type to put on a flashy performance, so she settled on singing in the end.
Her major was theater, but she occasionally sat in on musical theater classes, too. Singing was something she could do confidently.
The audition was being held at Jedo Sports Arena, a massive venue that could hold tens of thousands. It felt packed to the brim today, though.
After all, Evergreen Corporation was a huge name. Whether people genuinely thought they had a shot or were just here for the experience, as long as they met the requirements, they scrambled to sign up.
She answered confidently, "Of course. There's no point in me lying. She messaged me herself."
The group was surprised.
Someone finally blurted, "Wait—you know Liliana?"
Samantha hadn't been paying much attention, but that last bit made her turn to look. She stared at Chione, looking surprised.
Chione knew Liliana? Was the world really that small? No wonder Chione knew about her past…
The others were practically starstruck. "Do you think you could get us her autograph?"
"Me too! Liliana's blowing up right now. Not to mention the future! It'll be worth even more afterward!"
