Samantha stifled a giggle from the side and teased, "Dr. Reed is just so sweet. He even peels shrimp for Layla."
…
Three seconds later, Leonardo, hands clad in disposable gloves, peeled a shrimp and popped it right into her mouth. "Shut up and eat."
"I want more."
"Okay."
Without missing a beat, he continued peeling shrimp for her, quietly and patiently, while occasionally helping her crack open some soft-shell crabs, too.
Suddenly, it was like Leonardo and Ethan had transformed into contestants on some domestic skills game show—competing over who could peel shrimp faster, pick the fattest soft-shell crabs, or serve the juiciest steak.
Wesley watched the scene unfold with a look of pure disbelief. He couldn't help but comment as he took in the scene. "Tch. Men."
They were absolutely disgraceful.
Simon glanced at Elena's nearly empty plate and noticed she had only been eating meat and vegetables—no seafood in sight.
"Are you allergic to seafood?"
Elena shrugged. "It's too much trouble to eat."
And just like that, another man silently joined the shrimp-peeling labor force.
Wesley was dumbfounded. What was going on? Did someone cast a spell on all of them? He suddenly felt nervous—what if he was next?
As dinner came to an end, he suddenly piped up. "So, Samantha, have you ever thought about joining the entertainment industry?"
"Yeah. Why?"
That was exactly what Wesley wanted to hear. His eyes lit up as he leaned in a little. "You know I run Celestine Entertainment, right? If you're serious about debuting, you should consider signing with my company."
Just from her relationship with Leonardo, Wesley figured signing Samantha would be a no-brainer. Throw in her talent—something that everyone here had already witnessed—and she practically screamed future star.
She hadn't even considered any of this before.
Wesley fumed. "You seriously want a cut of everything, don't you?"
Elena joined in with a snort. "Unbelievable. He's so greedy."
"Right?"
For once, Wesley and Elena were in total agreement—united by the shared pain of failing to poach talent.
Samantha gave a sheepish laugh. "I haven't even graduated yet. Let me think about it, and I'll get back to you guys."
"Babe, just make sure I'm the first one you call," Elena commented.
