Daron looked at Marina in front of him, her face full of that aggrieved look. He took a deep breath, his breathing growing
hot
He reached out and gripped her chin, making her look right at him. His voice was low, rough, and sexy as hell
“Even in your dreams, you want to leave me?” he asked.
Marina’s eyes were red as she mumbled, “Yeah”
She dreamed that even Daron didn’t love her anymore.
‘If he doesn’t love me and we’re not getting divorced, then what’s the point of staying together? Marina thought to herself
Daron’s face darkened instantly. Her answer hit him hard, stabbing right into his heart.
He leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, afraid she’d say something next that would make him lose it
Marina stared, dazed, at his handsome face getting closer and closer, forgetting to close her eyes.
Daron reached up and covered her eyes, blocking her view.
Her eyes were just too beautiful, all wet and glistening. For some reason, he couldn’t resist the urge to tease her a little.
The kiss went on for a long time.
It lasted so long that Marina’s hands started to wander.
She slipped her hand right under Daron’s shirt, running her fingers over the hard lines of his muscles.
In her dreams, Marina had done this plenty of times. But never had it felt this real, this intense, as she could truly feel every muscle beneath her fingertips.
Just as her hand wandered upward, Daron’s hand suddenly caught hers.
Daron looked down at her and said in an extremely hoarse voice, “Quit fooling around. Be good and get some sleep.”
Marina gazed up at him and frowned, looking aggrieved.
‘In my dreams, he had always gone along with me, sometimes even more eager than I was.
‘Why doesn’t he want me tonight? Maybe he really doesn’t love me anymore, she wondered, feeling a little lost.
Her eyes grew red at the corners, and tears of hurt slid silently down her cheeks.
Daron’s brows furrowed as he reached out and gently wiped away her tears.
“Why are you crying again?” he asked softly.
Marina buried her head. Her voice was all soft and pitiful as she whispered, “You don’t love me anymore.”
Daron had to lean in close to catch her voice.
He gently rubbed her head. Her words hit him right in the feels, and he couldn’t hide it.

“Tell me, how do I usually show you my love?” he asked.
Marina looked up at him, her lips parting as if she was about to say something. But before she could, Daron leaned down and gave her a soft, teasing kiss.
Seeing that shy look on her face, Daron could tell her dreams were definitely on the naughty side.
They hadn’t even officially started yet. And he wasn’t about to rush into things without a proper beginning.
Besides, she was still drunk.
When she woke up, she might just want to draw a line between them.
Daron wasn’t about to take advantage of her while she was vulnerable.
Seeing her calm down, Daron reached out and gently rubbed her head, like he was comforting a child.
“I’m a bit tired tonight. Be good and get some sleep,” he said in a gentle voice.
With that, he turned to leave Marina’s room, worried that if he stuck around any longer, he might not be able to hold himself back.
His steps were quick and urgent. He was out the door immediately, shutting it behind him.
Marina sat on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the closed door. Her feelings were a mess, and the tears just wouldn’t stop, no matter what.
‘I’m such a loser. I can’t make Daron stay with me, not even in my dreams,‘ she thought, and it hurt so much.
Daron shucked off his shirt and made a beeline for the shower as soon as he got back to his room.
He let the cold water run over him, trying to wash away all the crazy thoughts swirling in his head.
But every time that sad look Marina gave him flashed through his mind, he couldn’t help but feel irritable and inexplicably worried.
He holed up in his room for half an hour before he finally walked toward Marina’s.
When he got to her door, his hand hovered over the doorknob, hesitating for a second.
Daron was the kind of guy who never got nervous about anything, but for once, he found himself feeling a little tense.
He furrowed his brows, let his eyes fall shut for a second, then pushed open Marina’s bedroom door.
Daron glanced inside and saw Marina lying face–down on the bed, sound asleep.
Her breathing was uneven. And now and then, he could hear the faint sound of her quietly sobbing in her sleep.
Daron frowned, making sure Marina was really asleep before stepping inside. He bent down, planning to settle her properly in bed instead of lying face–down.
She wasn’t exactly athletic. If she slept like that all night, she’d probably wake up with her whole body sore, not just her neck.
Marina was so light that Daron could carry her up with one arm, barely even using any strength.
He cradled her in his arms and gently pulled the covers back with one hand. Then he tucked the covers over her and

adjusted the AC so the room was just right.
Once everything was set, Daron walked over to the bed and gave her a long, deep look.
He heard her mumbling softly in her sleep, barely audible, and couldn’t help but bend down, leaning in to catch her words.
“Daron…” she whispered.
She was calling his name, her voice so gentle and needy, full of that sweet, clingy affection.
Daron raised an eyebrow, a smile curling at his lips. Right now, Marina was cuter than usual.
She seldom called him affectionately when she was sober.
Whenever she called him that, it was either because she needed his help or she was desperate and trying to sweet–talk him.
That kind of soft, spoiled tone was something she’d never use when she was awake.
