Basil looked over the group, who were still hesitating. He raised his wrist and checked his watch, then said in a cool voice, “I’ll give you two minutes to think it over.”
Abel, who usually loved to speak up, chose to stay silent this time.
The supervisor who believed he’d made the fewest mistakes chose this moment to speak up, his tone sounding like he wanted to negotiate as he addressed Basil.
“Mr. Todd, Ross Group has a bright future ahead. If the Zamora Group only wants to buy our shares at their current market value, it feels like we’re getting the short end of the stick,” he said.
As soon as he finished, the others nodded in agreement.
At this point, they were just trying to get as much as they could.
Basil glanced up at the supervisor and said coolly, “If you were just regular execs, I’d pass your request up the ladder. But let’s be real. You’ve all messed up, and you’ve been skimming off Ross Group for years.
“The company isn’t even coming after you for it. So, tell me, who’s really losing out here? You guys, or the company?
“Since none of you want to sell your shares in Ross Group, I guess we’ll just see each other in court.”
With that, Basil stood up from his seat and started to walk out of the conference room.
Seeing this, Abel quickly jumped to his feet, anxiously calling out to Basil, “Basil, I’m willing to sell.”
Basil gave a slight nod and said coolly, “Alright, Abel, come with me, and we’ll get the share sale agreement signed.”
Abel let out a quiet sigh of relief and hurried over to Basil.
He thought, ‘If I get sent to jail, there is no way I’d be out in less than five years.
‘Five years is a long stretch. Way too much could go wrong, including my wife.’
Basil saw that the others were still glued to their seats, not even trying to get up. Hesitation was written all over their faces, so he said coldly, “The future of Ross Group is really just whatever Zamora Group says it is. Why are you all so sure it’s going to turn out great?”
His words made everyone’s faces change.
Basil didn’t bother to linger in the conference room. He strode right out.
The moment he was gone, the rest of them instantly lost their cool.
Not a single one of them wanted to face off against the Zamora Group in court.

Chapter 210
Back in her office, Marina started packing up her personal belongings.
Soon enough, this office would have a new owner.

Robert stood at the doorway, watching as Marina calmly packed up her things. He knocked lightly on the door.
“Come in,” Marina said.
Marina looked up at Robert, paused mid–pack, and set the box aside.
Robert walked over to her desk, handed her a file, hesitated for a moment, and then asked, “Ms. Finley, are you leaving Sicester?”
Marina nodded. “Yeah, I’m heading back to Vrufield.”
Elnora still had a long road of recovery ahead, and Marina needed to be there for her.
“You signed a five–year contract with Ross Group, but if you ever want out before that, you’re free to go. There’s no non–compete holding you back. Still, with Zamora Group about to take over and merge Ross Group with their Sicester branch, if I were you, I wouldn’t quit just yet,” Marina said.
Robert took in her advice and quickly said, “Thanks, Ms. Finley. I’m sticking with Ross Group.”
Getting hired by Zamora Group as a regular employee was seriously tough.
Thanks to Ross Group, he would get his foot in the door at Zamora Group, and the sky’s the limit for his future.
Even if he didn’t stay at Ross Group down the line, it’d be way easier to land a job somewhere else.
No one in their right mind would quit Ross Group at a time like this.
Marina gave a slight nod, and as she glanced down, her phone lit up. It was a call from Yara.
She swiped to answer and put the phone to her ear.
“Marina?” Yara’s voice sounded urgent over the phone.
“What’s wrong?” Marina asked.
Marina sounded cool and collected. Yara went quiet for a few seconds, then spoke in a low voice, “I heard about the stuff happening inside Ross Group.”
Marina arched an eyebrow and said, “Well, you’re really in the loop. Got a spy in Ross Group or something?”
Marina’s words hit Yara. Then she replied, “Marina, I don’t have the clout to plant a spy in Ross Group. That’s Jasper’s doing.”
Marina just said coldly, “So, when is the Slav family planning to pay back that 1.5 million dollars you scammed?”

Yara’s voice was tight as she replied, “Marina, can we meet up? I really want to apologize to you in person. I had no idea Jasper would do something so stupid.”
Marina was totally unmoved.
“Forget the apology. It doesn’t mean a thing,” she said coldly.
Yara went quiet.
Just as Marina was about to hang up, Yara said, “Marina, you wouldn’t want your mess here to end up all over Vrufield, would you?”
Marina paused for a moment. A cold smirk tugged at her lips as she lifted the phone back to her ear.
“What are you trying to pull?” she asked.
Yara replied, “I’m not trying to do anything. I just want to protect the people around me. I hope you’ll let Lavern go.”
Marina let out a soft laugh, the sound dripping with mockery.
She said, “Honestly, I thought you’d be begging me to write a letter of forgiveness for Jasper. But instead, you’re threatening me all for Lavern?”
