Marina gazed out the window, letting out a quiet sigh. She didn’t notice that the man beside her had opened his eyes, his deep, brooding gaze fixed on her in the dim light.
The driver pulled up outside the Zamora Group headquarters.
Marina turned away from the window and glanced at Daron sitting next to her.
She had no idea when he’d opened his eyes.
As soon as she looked at him, she realized he was already watching her.
They locked eyes for a few seconds.
Marina was taken aback for a moment.
Daron’s eyes seemed to hold too many emotions all at once.
Marina could sense a trace of melancholy, a shadow of sorrow, and a lingering tenderness she couldn’t quite understand.
“Mr. Zamora, we’re here,” the driver called out from the front.
Daron finally looked away from Marina, glanced out the window and said offhandedly in his low voice, “Head to the Finley family’s place.”
“Head to the Finley House,” Daron said.
The driver didn’t say a word, just hit the gas and drove straight toward the Finley family’s place.
Marina snapped back to reality, a flicker of surprise flashing in her eyes at his words.
“We’re… not staying late?” she blurted out, still a bit dazed.
Daron’s voice was gravelly and a little sleepy. “I’m drowsy.”
Marina replied softly, “Oh.”
He really had been worn out these days.
Seeing that Marina wasn’t exactly cheerful, Daron asked in a casual tone, “You sound kind of bummed. Don’t tell me you actually enjoy pulling overtime?”
“You sound kind of bummed. Don’t tell me you actually enjoy pulling overtime?” Daron teased.
Marina shook her head. “No way.”
No one who worked for a living actually liked overtime, unless they were the boss.
Daron shot her an intense look, then just shut his eyes again, saying nothing more.
Marina didn’t say a thing either, keeping silent all the way to the Finleys.
It was usually about a twenty–minute drive from the Zamora Group to the Finley family’s place.
But with no traffic at night, they could make it in just ten minutes
Marina was gazing out the window when, out of nowhere, she felt a weight settle on her shoulder.

Her heart thudded hard in her chest. When she glanced down, she saw that Daron, out cold, had unconsciously rested his head on her shoulder.
She froze, hardly daring to breathe, and her heartbeat was so loul, she swore he could hear it.
For the last few minutes of the drive, Marina didn’t dare move a muscle, her palms slick with sweat.
The way Daron trusted her so openly, like no one else existed, made her chest feel tight and a little sore.
As the car neared the Finley family’s gate, Marina absently bit her lip, feeling like the ride had ended way too soon.
Just as she was debating whether to wake him up, Daron instinctively leaned back, the weight finally lifting off her shoulder.
Marina breathed a silent sigh of relief.
The driver rolled to a stop outside the Finley family’s place.
Set it. You stay in the car.”
Just as the driver reached for the door handle, Marina softly said. “I’ll

But the moment Marina softly shut the car door, she caught sight of Daron suddenly opening his eyes in the back seat, startling her.
His deep, intense gaze locked onto hers through the glass, the window between them only making the moment feel more charged.

“Got it, Mr. Zamora.” With a nod to Daron’s order, the driver started the car and headed back to the Zamora Group.

As they drove, the driver stole a cautious glance in the rearview mirror. Daron was looking down at his phone, fingers moving quickly as he typed, the screen’s glow highlighting his chiseled features and giving him an even more striking

Once he’d sent Marina a message, Daron slipped his phone back into his pocket.
The driver quickly turned his attention back to driving, keeping his eyes on the road.

The driver thought to himself, ‘Was Mr. Zamora really asleep on Ms. Finley’s shoulder just now, or was he just faking it?”
After all, the Zamora Group wasn’t that far from the Finley family’s place. At night, with no traffic, it was just a little over ten minutes by car.
