Chapter 364

When Marina headed downstairs, she found breakfast waiting for her on the table.

She ran her fingers along the rim of the milk glass. The glass was still warm to the touch. Clearly, Daron hadn’t been gone long.

Daron had left a note on the table, telling her to have breakfast before going out.

Marina didn’t start eating right away; she decided to wait for Daron to return from his morning run.

When Daron walked in, he glanced over and saw Marina sitting at the table, her breakfast untouched.

Not hungry?he asked.

Marina shook her head, looked up at him, and replied softly, No, I was waiting for you.”

Daron hesitated for a second, then made his way over and sat down across from her.

As soon as he sat down, Marina picked up her glass of milk and took a delicate sip. At that moment, there was a knock at the door.

Marina glanced at the clock, a hint of confusion flickering in her eyes. People usually didn’t come by at this hour.

Anyone who’d come over at this time would already know the door code.

Marina started to get up to answer the door, but Daron was quicker. Seeing her move, he said, I’ll get it.

Marina nodded.

Anyone knocking at this hour was probably here for Daron anyway. Letting him handle it meant she wouldn’t have to explain things again later.

Daron opened the door and returned shortly after.

He came back with a middleaged woman, probably in her forties.

A hint of confusion flashed in Marina’s eyes as she glanced at Daron.

Daron explained, Harris figured we’re both too busy with work to look after ourselves, so he sent someone from the old house to help out.”

Marina pursed her lips. No wonder the woman in front of her looked rather stern.

The middleaged woman set her suitcase down in the corner, then walked up to Marina and introduced herself.

Nice to meet you, Marina, I’m Belinda Spencer. Mr Harris sent me to take care of the meals for you and Mr Daron from now on,she said.

Since she was sent by the Zamoras, and Daron didn’t say a word against it. Marina had no reason to object either,

Marina nodded and gave a simple response, Belinda, we’ll be counting on you from now on.

Belinda looked pleasantly surprised and said, It’s no trouble at all, Marina. This is what I’m here for. May I ask which room I’ll be staying in? I’d like to put my luggage down first.

Marina glanced up at Daron and asked, Where should Belinda stay?”

Since moving in, no one else had lived in the house. As it was Daron’s place, the decision should technically be his.

But since Belinda asked me, I figured I’d better check with Daron first. Wouldn’t want to step on his toes, Marina reasoned.

Daron sat back down at the dining table and said lightly, It’s up to you.”

Marina noticed Daron was leaving the choice to her again. After a brief pause, she pointed toward the room by the study.

Let’s use that one,she said.

Belinda nodded, thanked her, and put her suitcase away in the room.

She didn’t have much luggage, so she finished unpacking quickly and stood quietly to the side, waiting.

Daron and Marina had already finished breakfast, and as soon as they got up, Belinda quickly came over to tidy up the table.

Marina was filling Daron in on his plans for the day as they walked upstairs.

Daron listened, nodding from time to time.

When they reached the second floor, Belinda occasionally glanced at them. Daron seemed to think of something, stopped in his tracks, shot a look at Belinda, who was still tidying up, and said in a serious tone, Don’t come upstairs without permission.”

Belinda nodded respectfully.

Yes, Mr. Daron,she replied.

Marina stopped and shot a look at Belinda, but her face gave nothing away.

She’d already noticed Belinda kept glancing over at them.

Honestly, the moment Belinda walked in, Marina could tell Harris had sent her to spy on her and Daron.

Older folks just love to control everything. Honestly, Marina wasn’t even surprised.

After ditching the Zamora family’s ancestral ceremony yesterday without telling anyone, she was probably at the bottom of Harris’s list now.

So, Harris sent someone to spy on her, just waiting for her to mess up so he could make a fuss and try to split her and Daron

apart.

Belinda caught Marina looking her way and immediately ducked her head, busying herself with the chores.

She slipped into the kitchen, moving a lot faster than she had before.

Marina looked away and stepped into the walkin closet.

Daron glanced over and asked, Not heading to Finley Group today?

Not today, I’ll go tomorrow,Marina replied, shaking her head.

Daron nodded, his voice mild.

If you want to head over, go whenever you like. If juggling both gets too exhausting, you can just focus on your work at Finley Group,he said.

Marina blinked in surprise. He’d never been this easygoing about her leaving before.

Though she couldn’t help but wonder why, Marina nodded anyway.

Okay,Marina replied, I’ll let you know if I decide to head over.”

Daron nodded, seeming pleased with her response. He didn’t show any sign of annoyance the whole time.

They headed to the office together. As soon as they arrived, Daron dived right into his work in his office.

Meanwhile, Marina got busy with her own tasks at her workspace.

At lunchtime, as the food delivery guy arrived, Marina was on the phone with Elnora.

She reached out to take the lunch from him, and just as Chloe was passing by, Marina asked if she could bring Daron’s lunch to his office.

Chloe took the lunch from her.

Elnora was calling about the factory’s delivery scheduled for tomorrow.

This batch was going straight to the partner’s hands, and since it was their first time working together, they had to make sure the delivery went off without a hitch and hopefully pave the way for future deals.
