Chapter 507

Zara could feel Matthew’s obvious rejection, and it left a bitter taste in her mouth.

She had just been showing off in front of Marina.

But now, when Harris brought up the topic, Matthew just stayed silent. It was as if he was openly telling Marina that everything she’d just boasted about was a lie.

The Zamora family would never let her in.

Martin noticed the emotion flickering in Zara’s eyes.

He secretly reached for her hand and flashed a smile at Harris.

Grandpa Harris, I’ll do everything I can to get the Zamora Group back on track, and then I’ll bring home the girl I love,” Martin said, his voice steady.

As he spoke, his gaze lingered on Zara, overflowing with tenderness.

When that day comes, I’ll throw her a wedding so grand that everyone will know she’s my wife,” he promised.

Zara listened to Martin’s words, and her usually composed expression softened, showing a trace of emotion.

She bit her lip gently, her head lowered in shy embarrassment.

Marina stood next to Daron, watching Martin put on his act of being madly in love and seeing Zara looking all shy and eady to bloom. Marina couldn’t help but arch an eyebrow, thinking, ‘Seriously? Are they still at it?’

she shot Daron a sideways glance.

Daron wasn’t even looking at Zara or Martin.

She spoke up quietly, “Should we go home?”

Daron nodded, agreeing.

Yeah,” he said.

After Marina and Daron left, Matthew, Martin, and Harris said their goodbyes and headed out together.

Edmund headed out of the Zamora family estate together with Daron.

On the way back, Matthew rode shotgun up front, while Martin and Zara sat together in the back.

Matthew glanced at the rearview mirror and caught sight of Martin with his arm around Zara’s waist, murmuring softly to

her.

Zara seemed totally docile, quietly listening to Martin, her gaze occasionally lingering on him, hinting at other emotions.

Martin noticed Matthew watching, met his eyes in the mirror, and smirked, his eyes gleaming with the satisfaction of a hunter who’d just claimed his prize.

Matthew let go of any urge to lecture Martin.

Chapter 507

Zara and Hayley had spent a long time by Daron’s side.

Zara had even worked at Cloudstorm Group, so she was bound to know plenty of Daron’s secrets.

If Zara and Hayley ever fully turned against him, they’d have a much easier time dealing with Daron.

After leaving the Zamora family estate.

Marina settled into Daron’s car.

Daron had been on the phone ever since they left, mostly talking shop.

Once he finished up, he put his phone away and caught Marina zoning out by the window.

He reached over, enveloped her hand in his palm, and murmured an apology.

‘Sorry, work kept me busy just now,” he said softly.

Marina shook her head.

‘It’s fime. Work comes first,” she said.

Zara had quit Cloudstorm Group and jumped ship to the Zamora Group, clearly taking some of Cloudstorm Group’s secrets

with her.

Martin never would’ve dared to provoke Daron before.

But today, he was strutting around like he owned the place, totally full of himself. He was clearly feeling pretty confident about those new projects.

‘Martin’s a total showman. Zara’s no match for him. Aren’t you going to give her a heads-up and tell her to steer clear of

him?”

Matthew would never let Zara become a Zamora.

And Martin never really planned on marrying her.

Daron’s tone was calm. “She won’t stop until she learns the hard way. Even if I tried to warn her, it wouldn’t change a thing.

“Everyone has their own path. It’s the one they’ve chosen. I don’t see any reason to get involved.”

Marina just stayed quiet after hearing him, not saying a word.

Seeing him like this, Marina couldn’t help but remember how, years ago, she’d gone to the Zamora family to break off their

engagement.

Back then, the whole Zamora family was against it. They flat-out refused to let her end things by herself.

After all, it was about saving face for the Zamora family.

She only managed to break off the engagement because Daron agreed to it.

‘What was Daron thinking back then?’ Marina wondered.

‘Maybe he felt the same way he does now, she mused.

Noticing Marina’s silence, her eyes staring straight ahead, Daron tightened his grip on her hand just a little and asked,

“What’s on your mind?”

Marina came back to herself and smiled at him.

“just remembering some old times,” she said.

Daron asked, “Is it about me?”

Marina gave a gentle nod.

“Yeah”

Daron shot her a sideways look. “Come on, let’s hear it.”

His eyes sparkled with curiosity. He really wanted to know how Marina saw him back then.

Marina rested her head on Daron’s shoulder, giving it a small shake as she spoke.

‘It’s all ancient history now, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. It’s not really worth talking about anymore.”

No matter what happened, they still found their way back to each other in the end.

Daron glanced down at Marina, her fluffy hair nestled against his arm. His heart softened, and in that moment, he suddenly let go of everything.

‘Let’s move forward,” he said.

Marina nodded, remaining silent.

The city lights of Vrufield were absolutely stunning tonight.

Resting against Daron’s arm, Marina felt strangely at peace, a sense of contentment she couldn’t quite explain.

As they waited at the red light, the man beside her, silent until now, suddenly spoke, his voice low and husky.

You know, I’ve never really understood why you were so set on ending things between us back then,” Daron admitted.

His voice was deep and a little rough,

That question had been weighing on him for years.

Just as he was speaking, there was a rear-end collision right beside their car.

Marina missed what Daron was saying, her attention drawn to the accident outside.
