Albert was attentive to Elnora the whole time, bringing her water and passing her tissues, making sure she was comfortable every step of the way.
Kamron tilted slightly in his chair, watching Albert and Elnora interact with a deep, unreadable gaze.
There was a slight curve to his lips, but not a hint of a smile in his eyes.
Stella stood to the side, looking pale, momentarily frozen, and forgetting to move.
It was Kamron who finally called out to her.
“Stella, why are you just standing there? Come over and have a drink with Albert and Ms. Finley,” he said.
Stella regained her composure and walked over.
She wanted to take the seat right next to Albert.
But if she did that, Kamron would end up looking even more left out.
And at that moment, Albert glanced up at her, his eyes cold and indifferent.
Stella thought better of it and dropped the idea of sitting beside Albert.
So she made her way over and took the seat next to Kamron.
Kamron motioned for the waiter to bring over the red wine, his tone leaving no room for refusal.
Once the wine arrived, Kamron didn’t let the waiter pour it. Instead, he turned to Stella with a faint, almost mocking smile.
“Stella, pour the wine,” he said.
Stella hadn’t even warmed her seat yet before she had to get up and start pouring.
She poured a glass for Elnora first, then started pouring for Albert.
Albert never looked at her, just stared at his glass the whole time.
When the wine reached halfway in his glass, Albert lifted his hand and stopped Stella from pouring any more.
“That’s enough,” he said.
Stella froze for a second, her grip tightening around the bottle.
‘Albert really just sees me as someone here to pour wine,’ she thought, feeling a sting in her chest.

She bit her lip, her eyes turning slightly red.
She glanced at Albert, saying nothing, then turned to pour wine for Kamron.
Kamron glanced at Stella, arching an eyebrow, his gaze sharp and calculating.
Without a word, Albert switched his glass for Elnora’s.
Elnora looked at him, confused.
“There’s too much in this glass. Let me take it. You shouldn’t drink so much,” Albert said.
Elnora arched an eyebrow, and after Albert took the glass, she took a small sip.
Elnora had just taken a sip from that glass.
Her lipstick mark was still visible on the rim.

Albert brought the glass to his lips, drinking right from the spot where her lipstick was, his expression completely unchanged.
Elnora watched his actions, her lips moving slightly, but she said nothing and quietly looked away.
Stella watched every little thing Albert did, unable to look away.
She bit her lip so hard the corner turned white.
Kamron glanced at Stella and said in a flat tone, “Stella, why are you just standing there? Raise a glass to Ms. Finley and Albert.”
Stella finally stood up, reaching for her own glass. But in her nervous haste, the back of her hand accidentally bumped Kamron’s glass, tipping it right over.
Red wine streamed down the table, dripping onto the floor.
A fair bit splashed onto Kamron, staining his clothes.
Stella hurriedly set her glass aside and scrambled to help Kamron wipe off the mess.
The wine had spilled right in Kamron’s lap, making things awkward.
When Stella leaned over with the tissues, Kamron blocked her hand.
He snatched the tissues from her and wiped his crotch himself.
Stella caught the disdain in Kamron’s gaze, confusion flickering in her eyes. Flustered, she accidentally knocked a glass off the table.
The glass crashed to the floor.
Stella scrambled to pick it up, her hands shaking.

But as she reached for the shards, a sharp piece cut her finger.
Blood welled up from the tip of her finger.
Kamron frowned, thinking to himself, ‘She’s just so stupid.’
Stella bit down hard on her lip, her eyes instinctively searching for Albert.
But Albert’s gaze stayed locked on Elnora, never once acknowledging Stella’s presence.

Tears slipped from the corner of Stella’s eyes. Her fingers tightened instinctively, and the shards of glass once again pierced her skin, making her draw in a sharp breath.
“Hiss…” Stella winced, the pain shooting through her finger.
This time, all eyes at the table were on her.
Kamron didn’t say a word, slowly and deliberately wiping the wine from his clothes.
Albert looked at her, but he stayed silent too.
Elnora was the first to speak, her voice calm, without a hint of emotion.
“Are you alright, Ms. Taylor?” Elnora asked, her tone flat.
There was no real concern in her voice.
Stella glanced at Albert, her eyes red-rimmed as she shook her head.
“I’m fine. Just got poked, drew a little blood,” she said.
Still, Albert didn’t say a word.
Elnora just murmured “mm,” then added, “Be careful. Remember, you still have that hand cream endorsement.”
Stella nodded, swallowing her frustration.
Elnora spoke in such a detached, businesslike way. It was almost as if she were talking to a stranger.
Stella just couldn’t wrap her head around it. How could Albert be drawn to someone so emotionless, like she was all work and no heart?
Kamron gave a low, mocking chuckle at Elnora’s words.
Elnora’s eyes landed on Kamron.
Kamron forced a smile.
“Ms. Finley, you’re really something,” he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Kamron just smirked, “Who knows? Hard to say.”
Elnora let it go and didn’t ask again.
