His 181St Second (Laverne and Marina) novel Chapter 619

Chapter 619

Elnora reached out and gently stroked the white horse’s cheek.

The white horse instantly nuzzled her hand, then gave her a few friendly nudges with its head.

Its warmth and affection melted away the last trace of fear lingering in Elnora’s heart.

Just then. Wren walked over, leading her own horse, and smiled at Elnora.

“Looks like Buttercup likes you, Ms. Finley,” Wren said.

Elnora reached out and stroked the white horse’s face. “Is its name Buttercup?”

Wren nodded.

That’s right. Every horse at my riding club has its own name,” she replied.

As they walked, Wren introduced each horse to Elnora.

Elnora led Buttercup along, following Wren. She glanced over at Albert.

Albert had brought his horse out and was waiting at the entrance of the riding club.

His gaze landed on Elnora, and his face softened.

Just as Elnora was about to head over, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a woman in a white dress walking toward Albert.

With a bright smile, the woman greeted Albert. “Albert, are you here to see Gust as well today?”

Clearly, Gust was the black horse’s name.

Elnora stopped in her tracks, holding Buttercup back, and didn’t head over to Albert.

Wren stepped into the stirrup and swung herself up onto her horse with ease.

Once she was settled, she held the reins and looked over at Elnora.

“Ms Finley, do you need a hand?” Wren asked.

Elnora waved her hand and said, “No, I’m good.”

Wren sat astride her horse, reins in hand, waiting for Elnora to catch up.

Not far away. Stella was still talking to Albert.

Stella said, I come to see Gust almost every week. Honestly, I thought you’d forgotten about it

‘Albert, do you remember back when we first adopted Gust

Elnora wasn’t interested in hearing what Stella and Albert were talking about

But for some reason, bits of their conversation kept drifting into her cats.

Elnora glanced down, grabbed the front of the saddle, and put her foot in the stirrup. Right as she was about to mount, Buttercup, who’d been so calm just moments ago, suddenly freaked out.

Buttercup suddenly jumped, tossing Elnora to the ground. Its hooves stomped nervously.

Elnora froze, letting go of the saddle right away.

“Ms. Finley!” Wren shouted.

Without hesitation, Wren snapped her whip at Buttercup.

Buttercup jerked back, stumbling a bit from the pain.

Its hoof grazed Elnora’s leg, and Elnora felt a sudden sting shoot up her leg.

Albert saw what happened and rushed over, helping Elnora up.

The staff at the riding club hurried over, quickly taking control of Buttercup and leading it away.

Albert’s eyes flashed with panic as he drew Elnora close, shielding her protectively, concern in his eyes.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

Elnora waved her hand and smoothly stepped out of Albert’s embrace, putting a comfortable distance between them.

“I’m fine,” she said.

Albert’s face darkened as he turned to Wren.

He said coldly, “Why are you still keeping a dangerous horse around?”

Wren looked genuinely guilty at being called out by Albert.

“I’ll have someone take it away right now,” Wren said quickly.

Elnora had taken riding lessons a long time ago.

She knew that once a horse was unwanted at the riding club, it was basically headed straight for the slaughterhouse

Elnora looked up at Buttercup.

Buttercup was staring right back at her.

The staff had whipped Buttercup hard moments ago, and the marks were still fresh on its body.

Elnora met its gaze, and a strange feeling stirred in her chest.

She didn’t know what had made Buttercup suddenly act up, but she couldn’t stand the idea that Buttercup might lose its lite because of her

Just then Stella walked over, her eyes begging as she looked at Albert

She said, ‘Albert don’t send Buttercup away, please

Buttercup is pregnant and has been moody lately Maybe Ms Finley hurt it by accident, and that’s why it acted our

Albert’s brows knitted in a frown as he shot Wren a questioning look.

Wren froze, her face paling as she hurried to explain, I’m sorry, Ms. Finley. I didn’t know it was pregnant I’

Elnora brushed the dust off her clothes and spoke gently, “No need to send it away. I’m fine, really.”

Wren hopped off her horse and hurried over to Elnora, her face full of apology.

“Let me find you another horse right away,” she offered.

Elnora waved her off.

“No, thanks. You guys go ahead and ride. I’ll sit down for a bit, grab some water, and join you later,” she said.

With that, Elnora walked past Albert and made her way toward the lounge area.

Albert reached out, trying to stop her.

But Elnora stepped aside, avoiding his hand.

Albert’s hand was left hanging awkwardly in the air.

Wren shot Albert a look, then hurried after Elnora toward the lounge area.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Finley. I haven’t been to the riding club in a while, so I had no idea Buttercup was pregnant. I just wanted to make sure you had a gentler horse,” she said.

Elnora waved her hand. “It’s fine, really. I’m okay, just a bit thirsty.”

A hot sting of pain flared across her leg. It might be a bruise or a scrape.

She kept her composure, not letting anyone notice the pain.

Kaelin had picked out his horse and taken it for a spin around the riding club.

When he spotted Elnora heading toward the lounge with grass and weeds on her clothes, looking somewhat disheveled, he nudged Benedict and asked, “What happened to Ms. Finley?

Benedict said, “Looks like she took a tumble.”

Karlin raised an eyebrow. “Seriously, what’s up with Albert? Can’t even look after his wife properly

Kaelin glanced over at Albert as soon as he said that.

When he spotted Stella standing right next to Albert, Kaelin let out a sharp breath.
