Chapter 69 No Second Chances
“What a shame. She’s not just good at hosting and cooking-she can even play the mandolin. Look at that figure.”
Tasha’s voice was right by his car. David muttered, “You never told me she was Alicia.”
Maybe it was fate. During the video call, the camera froze the moment it focused on Alicia. By the time the feed returned, it showed Aria instead.
If he had known the Alicia he’d been dreaming about was actually her, he never would have acted so flippant. Every time he remembered the candlelit dinner she’d prepared for his proposal, David wanted to slap himself.
Just yesterday, he’d sworn he would only marry Alicia. They still had a chance. Now, everything had fallen apart.
Tasha hadn’t even finished speaking when David suddenly bolted.
“What’s gotten into him? Ever since he came back from Southam, he’s like a different person.”
Austin was talking with Alicia when David grabbed his hand and dragged him away.
By the water lily pond, David yanked his hand free. “Did you leak those photos? You really stooped that low just to make me give up on Alicia?”
Austin stared coldly at him. The bruise on his lip was barely visible, but his voice was icy. “David, let me remind you-I’m your elder.”
“What kind of elder steals his nephew’s girlfriend? Aren’t you afraid of karma?” David’s anger boiled over. “You even schemed against me to get what you want. What kind of ”
He swung at Austin’s face. Austin didn’t let it land-he caught the punch effortlessly.
“Do you think I’m giving you an inch?” He twisted David’s arm, throwing him off balance.
David, trained in taekwondo and fit, realized all his skills were useless here.
Austin drove his knee hard into David’s stomach.
“Last time I didn’t dodge, and now you think you can do it again?”
Austin sneered. “You cheated. You slept with Aria. You treated Alicia like a toy. From start to finish, you couldn’t control yourself.”
“That night, did you know Aria drugged me?”
“I knew.” Austin’s patience was gone. “I even warned you, but you were too dumb to see it.”
