His Dangerous Love On Ice (Olivia and Zane) novel Chapter 112

Zane’s POV

“I did what I had to do.” His voice was hard now. No more pretense. No more games. “And you won’t stop me.”

“Why do you want Grayson’s company?” I asked, though I already knew the answer. “Taking the VP position that was meant for him wasn’t enough? Now you need to destroy him completely?”

It wasn’t a question. It wasn’t even an accusation. It was just the truth laid bare between us.

“I’m doing what I have to do,” he said, and I could hear the cruel satisfaction in his voice. “Showing everyone that no one crosses my path. Not Grayson. Not you. And you wouldn’t dare try to stop me.”

“And why is that?”

“Because if you do, I’ll tell Olive exactly who you are. What you are.” He paused, letting the words sink in. “A killer.”

My breath caught. My hand tightened around the phone.

My mind flashed back to this morning. To Olive’s face when she told me to leave. The way she’d looked at me like I was a stranger. Like she didn’t know me at all.

Maybe she was right. Maybe ending things was for the best. For her, at least.

My chest ached at the thought, but I pushed it down. Buried it deep where it couldn’t touch me.

“I don’t mind my secrets being exposed now,” I said quietly. “Because if my secrets get exposed, so do yours. You made sure my downfall brought your own rise. If I fall again, you fall with me. And you don’t want to fall, Williams Gary Mercer.”

The call went silent.

I could hear his breathing on the other end. Sharp. Uneven. Rigid.

He hadn’t expected that.

“What do you know?” he asked, and for the first time in years, I heard genuine fear in his voice.

A small smile tugged at my lips, but my eyes remained cold. Empty.

“Everything.”

All these years, right after the military, I’d been broken. Shattered. Barely holding myself together. And then Nikolia walked into my life and showed me a path I’d never looked back from.

A path that made me deadly. A path that gave me power my father couldn’t even comprehend.

A path I’d kept hidden for years.

Even Leonardo hadn’t figured it out yet.

“You’re bluffing,” my father said, but his voice wavered.

“Am I?”

Silence.

“I’m going to ask you one question, Father,” I said, my voice low and controlled. “And you’re going to tell me the truth.

Because for years, I let you speak to me however you wanted. Le you treat me like I was nothing. And I took it. All of it. Because I respected Mother’s last wish on her deathbed.”

I paused, letting the weight of those words settle.

“But you crossed a line when you decided to go after her. The woman who makes me feel like less of a pathetic asshole.”
