“Hey, Niamh?” Lana whispered, her tone tinged with annoyance. The atmosphere with Jarrett was just perfect, and Niamh’s call couldn’t have come at a worse time, interrupting their private moment.
On the other end, Niamh asked, puzzled, “Lana, what’s wrong? Is it a bad time to talk?”
“I…”
“Whose phone is that?” Suddenly, Niamh heard a man’s voice in the background. Even though she wasn’t familiar with Jarrett’s voice, she could only think of one man who would be with Lana at this hour.
“Is Jarrett with you?” Niamh asked directly.
“Ah, yes…”
“Perfect.”
“Perfect?” Lana was completely confused by Niamh’s response.
“Ask Jarrett if he’s free this weekend. I was thinking we could go on a double date.”
“A double date?” Lana’s eyes widened.
“Yeah, me and Elmer, you and Jarrett. Wonderland Adventure Park just reopened, and I figured it would be more fun with more people.”
Standing close to Lana, Jarrett heard every word Niamh said and smiled to himself, his expression unreadable.
Lana moved the phone away from her ear and turned to Jarrett. “Niamh and Elmer want to go on a double date with us to the amusement park. Are you free this weekend?”
A mysterious glint appeared in Jarrett’s eyes. “I had a meeting on Sunday… but for you, I’m willing to reschedule.”
“Oh, you shouldn’t do that!” Lana said, looking down shyly.
Jarrett immediately wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace. “Seeing as I’m making such a big sacrifice for you, don’t you think I deserve a reward?”
Before she could answer, his hand was already unzipping her jeans.
