He didn’t want to get cornered by Niamh again. He didn’t return to The Quinn Group that day, wanting to give Ramona some space to cool down after their argument.
The next morning, however, the moment he arrived at the office, he was summoned by Ramona.
This time she didn’t slap him, but she did throw her phone at him.
Wade had finally had enough of her petulance and violence.
“Have you lost your mind?!”
Ramona froze, stunned that Wade would dare to yell at her.
“What do you mean, have I lost my mind?” she retorted, her hands on her hips as she rolled her eyes. “Wade, you know exactly what you’ve done.”
“What did I do now?!”
“Where were you yesterday?”
Ramona’s question left him speechless.
“Hah. Nothing to say, right?” she sneered, picking up her phone and shoving it in his face. “The RJ Group is hosting an opening ceremony for their project, and you just had to go? And look at this picture in the news…”
Wade looked at the phone screen and saw the photo of him and Niamh. There wasn’t just one, and they were taken from multiple angles. He wondered if this was Niamh’s deliberate attempt to drive a wedge between him and Ramona. But the pictures weren’t just of the two of them; in some, they were barely noticeable in the crowd. You wouldn’t even see them if you weren’t looking closely.
And yet… Ramona had noticed. And she cared. A lot.
Wade thought deeper. If Niamh had really wanted to sow discord, she could have hired someone to take photos of just the two of them, not these shots where they were just two faces in a crowd who happened to be standing together.
“What does this prove?”

Meanwhile, Niamh was back at the RJ Group, scrolling through her phone in her office.
“These pictures… they don’t really show Wade and me being that close, do they?” she asked Jonathan, who was standing beside her, with a wry smile.
“I picked these photos out myself,” he said. “There were more intimate ones of you and Wade, but I didn’t use them.”
“Why not?” Niamh asked curiously. If she recalled correctly, it was Jonathan who had first suggested they get incriminating photos of her and Wade to show Ramona.
Jonathan looked at Niamh, his eyes smiling.
“You’re a smart woman. Why don’t you tell me why?”
