HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 1076

For quite some time, Naomi let Eli release her emotions through her tears.

After seeing Eli’s breathing begin to steady and her face no longer as tense as before, Naomi said softly, “You don’t need to stay close to her anymore. At least for now. There’s no point forcing yourself to be friends with someone who has hurt you like this.”

Eli fell silent.

“And you don’t need to think too much about David either. He doesn’t believe you. Why keep proving yourself just to make him believe you? Someone who has already chosen not to trust you and would rather believe someone else without finding out the truth for himself is not someone you need to fight for.”

Eli stared intently at Naomi.

“You’re starting to grow up and think more clearly.” Naomi gently stroked the top of Eli’s head. “Ever since I was first introduced to the Miller family, I’ve considered you my little sister. I hope you’ll think of me as your sister too.”

“Of course,” Eli interjected somewhat eagerly. She quickly wiped the corners of her still-reddened eyes. “In fact, I’m happy that you consider me your little sister.”

“What about me?” Grace looked at Eli with an annoyed expression. “Don’t you consider me your little sister?”

Eli chuckled softly. “Of course, Grace.”

Grace finally smiled in satisfaction, as if that answer was exactly what she should have received.

“Forget about what’s happening to you right now. Just let Natalie keep spreading rumors about you. You didn’t do what they’re accusing you of, right?”

Eli nodded without hesitation.

“Then just let it be. Let them continue until they get tired. As long as none of it ends up hurting you, you only need to watch from a distance.” Naomi paused for a moment, then her gaze became slightly more serious. “But if she starts going too far, you can take action. Warn her, especially Natalie, not to carelessly bring your private affairs to other people. If necessary, you can even make her take responsibility for what she said in front of everyone.”

“What do you mean?” Eli asked, still confused.

“Oh...” Naomi leaned back in her chair. “Or could it be that Natalie actually likes David?”

Those words left Eli silent.

Grace also turned to Naomi.

“If that’s really the case,” Eli murmured softly.

Naomi looked at her.

“Maybe all this time, she didn’t really want to protect David.” Eli lowered her head, her thoughts beginning to connect several incidents she had previously considered unimportant.

“Maybe,” Naomi continued, “she just didn’t want to see David choose someone else.”

Eli did not answer.

But this time, for the first time, she began reconsidering all of Natalie’s behavior toward David and herself.

Naomi’s phone rang loudly, and when she saw who was calling her, a wide smile appeared on her face. “Chris is on his way here. You’d better get the things Eli needs ready. Remember, you have to go home this week.”

Eli chuckled. “Of course. And... it seems there’s nothing I need to get. Let’s just wait here for Uncle Chris to pick us up.”
