The day of the game finally arrived.
Since morning, the atmosphere around campus had been much busier than usual. The semifinal between Miller University and Raven University was one of the games most talked about by the students. Especially since both teams were known as strong rivals. The cheers of the supporters could already be heard even before the game began.
Eli walked out from the direction of the dorm at a relaxed pace. She was wearing a simple outfit with a jacket paired with long pants, but in her hands were several Miller University support items that she had deliberately prepared since morning.
As soon as she reached the main entrance, her steps immediately slowed when she saw several people already waiting for her.
Althea was standing with Grace and Chase. On the other side were Lydia, Chris, and Naomi. Riana was also already there, while Cale and Nathan were nowhere to be seen yet.
“Eli!” Grace immediately waved when she saw her.
Eli’s face instantly brightened. She quickened her pace and walked toward them. “You’re already here?”
“Of course,” Althea replied with a smile. “How could we miss Josh’s game?”
Grace immediately took one of the support items Eli was carrying. “You brought this?”
“Yes.” Eli handed her a small banner with the words Miller University written on it. “I made it myself.”
“Wow, so you’re really serious about supporting Josh.”
Eli laughed softly. “I already promised I would come.”
“I’m supporting Josh too!” Chase did not want to be outdone. He pulled out a drawing he had made of Josh holding a basketball.
What Chase showed her made Eli smile widely. “Chase is amazing! The drawing is so good.”
Chase looked proud of the praise. Since earlier, almost everyone in his family had praised the way he drew. Including Grace, the sister he loved the most.
Althea, who had been silent all this time, only smiled as she watched everyone’s excitement. She then said, “Daven can’t come today.”
Eli looked intently at Althea. “Mr. Daven must be very busy lately.”
Althea nodded slowly. “You’re right. That’s why besides Daven, Cale and GrandDad will also be arriving a little late later.”
Eli nodded once again. She knew that the three men indeed had matters that could not be left unattended.
“Then we have to support Josh as loudly as we can,” Naomi said.
“Of course,” Althea replied while raising the support item in her hand. “But remember your pregnancy, Naomi. Don’t get too excited.”
Naomi immediately linked her arm with Althea’s and leaned comfortably against her. “I know. I’ll be careful.”
Grace immediately raised hers as well. “And don’t blame me if I lose my voice later.”
“I don’t think your voice will be the only thing that runs out,” Chris said with a laugh. “Eli might be the loudest one of all of us.”
Eli immediately protested while laughing. “I’m not that bad.”
“Really?” Grace sneered. “We’ll see.”
Everyone laughed again, then began walking together toward the game area. Eli smiled widely as well. For the first time in a while, her mind truly felt light.
Today was not about gossip, not about David, and not about what other people said about her. Today was simply about supporting Josh and enjoying time with the family that always accepted her unconditionally.
