HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 1096

Josh then turned and walked back toward Eli. “Come on.”

Eli nodded and walked beside him. Althea immediately followed behind them.

“You two go ahead,” Chris told them. “I’ll take the others home.”

Althea turned to Chris. “I’ll go with Josh to the hospital.”

“All right. Be careful.”

Lydia then approached Naomi, who was standing beside Chris. “Let’s go home first and prepare dinner.”

Naomi immediately nodded. “Of course. After such a long day, I think everyone needs a good dinner.”

Chris suddenly raised his hand. “How about we have a barbecue?”

Lydia looked at him for a moment, then smiled. “A barbecue?”

“Yes. It’s been a long time since we all had a meal together like that.” Chris turned to the others. “Besides, we lost today. So we should have something to cheer up our captain.”

Josh, who heard that, immediately turned around.

“I agree. But if that’s the case, how about I invite some of my teammates?”

“No problem,” Chris replied casually. “The more, the merrier.”

Several family members immediately agreed with the suggestion. After making sure everything was clear, they began to split up. Lydia and Naomi went with the others to prepare dinner, while Chris took several family members home first.

Josh then took out his phone with his uninjured hand.

“I’ll let them know now.”

Eli glanced at Josh’s phone screen. “Are they coming?”

“If they hear the word barbecue, they might come before I even finish inviting them.”

Eli laughed softly.

It turned out Josh was not exaggerating.

As soon as the message was sent to the team group chat, replies started appearing almost simultaneously.

Seriously, Captain?

Barbecue?

At your house?

We’re coming!

I haven’t even had a chance to shower after the game!

Josh chuckled as he looked at the messages.

“See?” he said to Eli. “I knew it.”

Eli laughed as well. “They seem more excited about eating than thinking about the loss earlier.”

“Maybe that’s how they deal with losing.”

“Then it’s pretty effective.”

Josh smiled. Seeing his teammates joking around like usual made him feel much lighter. The semifinal loss was indeed disappointing, but at least it had not changed their relationship.

Josh fell silent.

One month without basketball.

For someone who was on the court almost every day, that amount of time was clearly not easy to accept.

“But what if my condition improves sooner?”

“That doesn’t mean you can immediately start playing,” the doctor replied firmly. “You have to wait until your hand has completely recovered. Don’t push yourself just because you feel like it doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Josh let out a long sigh.

This time, he could not argue.

“And during the therapy period, don’t play basketball for now. Don’t push your hand even if the pain has already decreased. If you return to playing too quickly, the recovery process could be disrupted.”

Josh fell silent.

One month.

For other people, it might sound short. But for a basketball player who was used to being on the court almost every day, one month felt quite long.

Josh looked at his wrist, which had now been treated again. Imagining having to stay away from the court for that long made it impossible for him to immediately accept the decision.

“Am I really not allowed to play?”

“Not for the time being,” the doctor replied. “At least until your hand is declared fully recovered.”

Josh let out a long sigh.

He knew there was no point in arguing. The doctor had already given him a clear explanation, and pushing himself would only make his recovery take longer. In the end, he could only accept the fact that for the time being, he had to stop playing.
