HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 390

**Shadows of the Past – By Emma Clarke**
**Chapter 390**

“Welcome, Mrs. Miller.”

Riana felt the weight of numerous greetings wash over her like a tidal wave. It was hardly surprising; after all, the unexpected appearance of the CEO’s wife at the TnC Group’s office was bound to stir curiosity and respect among the employees. This was not a common occurrence for Riana, who typically preferred to maintain a low profile, adhering to the unspoken rules of corporate decorum. Yet today, something urgent had compelled her to breach that norm, pushing her to act against her usual habits.

With a gracious smile, she responded to each greeting, her warmth genuine. Riana had always prided herself on her humility; she never allowed her husband’s position to inflate her ego. The employees were not just subordinates; they were individuals she respected.

As she navigated through the office, she felt a mix of nostalgia and apprehension. It had been years since she had set foot in this particular room.

Finally, she arrived at Nathan’s office, and it was as if time had stood still. The tall shelves were still lined with meticulously organized binders, each one a testament to the countless hours of work that had taken place within these walls. Sunlight streamed in through a wide window, illuminating the vibrant chaos of SunCity below, where life thrived in a constant rhythm. On the opposite wall, a large monitor emitted a soft bluish glow, casting an eerie light over the room.

“Mom,” Chris and Cale exclaimed almost in unison as Riana crossed the threshold.

She settled onto the sofa, sitting up straight, her hands clasped tightly in her lap, betraying her inner tension. Across from her, Cale stood with a tablet in hand, while Chris leaned against the desk, his expression tense and troubled. Nathan remained seated, a silent observer, absorbing the atmosphere.

“So,” Riana began, her voice steady, “what do I need to know about Selena?”

The moment she had left Selena’s apartment, her mind had raced with unanswered questions. Riana could hardly contain her frustration; Selena was far too adept with her words, manipulating situations and people with an ease that left Riana feeling cornered and uneasy.

Cale broke the silence, his tone serious. “These are recordings from the corridor, lobby, and balcony cameras of the apartment she’s staying in. I’ve been monitoring her since the day Nora passed away.”

Riana’s attention snapped to him, her eyes narrowing. “And?”

“Almost every night,” Cale continued, his voice steady yet resolute, “she either makes or receives phone calls. It’s always around the same time—between eleven p.m. and shortly after midnight.”

Chris frowned, skepticism creeping into his voice. “Regular phone calls don’t necessarily mean anything, do they? She could just be talking to family.”

“Midnight? When no one’s supposed to notice?” Cale interjected, tapping the screen of his tablet with urgency. “And that’s not even the main issue. Every time we try to trace the number, it’s already disconnected. Disposable phones. Not registered to anyone.”

Riana’s gaze intensified as she focused on Cale. “Doesn’t that sound like someone who has something to hide?”

Finally, Nathan broke his silence, his voice grave. “Are you certain she doesn’t know there are cameras?”
