“Sir, we’ve arrived.”

Daven lifted his gaze, taking in his surroundings. Ever since stepping off the plane, he had been buried in reports related to JiangShe. The driver was right-they had arrived. The trip back to unCity, more precisely to the headquarters of TnC Group, had taken quite some time, and Daven had used every minute of it well, catching up on everything that had unfolded in his
absence.
The sky above SunCity was now brushed with streaks of orange blending into deepening blue, signaling the approach of evening as the car came to a stop at the main lobby of TnC Group. A valet hurried over and opened the door for him, clearly recognizing the man who had just arrived at the predominantly white building
“Thank you,” Daven said.
He didn’t step inside right away. There was a brief pause-a slow exhale, his jaw tightening, his mind crowded with too many thoughts-before he finally moved forward.
As he walked through the building, several employees greeted him politely as they passed. Daven acknowledged them with minimal responses, his focus fixed on the elevator that led straight to Nathaniel Miller’s floor.
The CEO and owner of Miller Group.
“You’re expected, Mr. Daven,” Beatrix said the moment he stepped out of the elevator.
“You’re still here?” Daven loosened his tie slightly.
“Not yet, sir. There’s still work to be done, and it seems I’ll remain at the office until your discussion is over.”
Daven simply nodded. Chris Miller’s assistant was known for her dedication, and tonight especially, it made sense to have someone present who understood the company’s critical archives. There would be a lot to discuss.
The office door opened, revealing the man Daven had come to see. Nathan sat behind his desk, studying the stacks of documents spread before him. Nearby, Cale Miller was absorbed in his tablet. The moment Daven entered, all eyes turned toward him.
“Beatrix, prepare coffee for us,” Cale said, setting his tablet down “Have you had dinner, Daven?”
Daven slipped off his blazer and took one of the chairs. “Later.”
“Alright. Then just coffee. And after that, you can head home, Beatrix.”
She looked slightly surprised by Cale’s words, but it was clear this meeting was important—and private. There was nothing for her to do but nod.
Once the office door closed behind her, Cale’s attention snapped back to Daven. “So… you really went through with the tests?” Nathan mirrored that focus, his interest unmistakable. The news Daven had brought was far from what they had expected. “Yes.” Daven placed a black folder on the table, stamped with the gos of several hospitals in the Migathan region. Cale immediately picked it up, flipping through the documents one by one.
Daven knew it wasn’t a matter of distrust. Cale simply needed to see the proof with his own eyes. These results concerned the Miller bloodline-his family,
“Out of five major hospitals, two are among the most reputable there. All of them show the same results. There’s no room to dispute it,”
“That means…” Cale growled, fury simmering beneath his words. There’s been manipulation at SunCity Hospital?”
He clenched one of the envelopes tightly in his fist, the crumpling paper a clear reflection of his rage as the truth began to surface, piece by piece.
“Possibly. We need to find out who helped Selena obtain those DN test results.”

“I don’t think that’s the right move,” Daven cut in.
“What do you mean?” Cale looked at him sharply.
“But before we go any further,” Daven continued evenly, “should Chris be looped in as well?”
Cale nodded, and Nathan agreed. It took only moments before the ablet at the far end of the table lit up. Chris’s face appeared on the screen, the background unmistakably his office in JlangShe just as Daven remembered it. Nothing had changed, except the skyline beyond the window, now glowing brighter than before
A sign that the sun had risen not long ago.
“Good morning,” Chris greeted them. Then he smirked slightly. “Or should I be saying good evening to you?”
“Get to the point,” Cale snapped. “We don’t have much time.”
Chris clicked his tongue. “Still as stiff as ever.” But his posture straightened almost immediately. “I heard you just got back from Migathan, Daven. Asked for a re-examination of the DNA test?”
Daven nodded. “The last time you handled it, who was the doctor in charge?”
“Dr. Noel. I already looked into his background-there’s no direct connection to Selena. But…” He trailed off.
Cale fixed him with a hard stare. “Just say it. The sooner we complete this puzzle, the sooner we end this game.”
“As you suspected, it all leads back to one name. Harold. Dr. Noel Abraham is Harold’s colleague—and used to be his junior at Maureen University.”
