Chapter 648
And somehow, that made everything feel even more intense.
Every now and then, Lydia glanced at him. Without realizing it, she kept wetting her lips with the tip of her tongue-a small gesture that didn’t go unnoticed. It pulled a knowing smile from Cale.
The elevator doors slid open.
They walked toward their room in silence. And the moment the door closed behind them-
Lydia stopped.
Just for a second.
Then she turned.
Without warning, she grabbed Cale and pulled him closer in one swift motion. Enough to catch him off guard-just for a fraction of a second-but a satisfied smirk curved at the corner of his lips.
Because Lydia kissed him first.
Fasti Urgent. Their breaths colliding, as if everything she had been holding back had finally found its way out.
Cale was startled for a heartbeat-but only for that. The next second, he moved, pulling her closer and returning the kiss with equal intensity-no restraint, no control like he usually had. This time… he let Lydia take the lead.
“So this is what all that restlessness was about?” he murmured against her lips.
Lydia didn’t answer. She simply pulled him closer again, kissing him without pause. Cale smiled faintly into the kiss, clearly enjoying the moment Lydia finally gave in to the very tension he had stirred within her.
And little by little… he began to take control.
His hands slid to her waist, holding her firmly yet carefully as he guided her backward. One step… then another.
Their breathing grew uneven, and Lydia had no intention of stopping.
If anything-she only grew more impatient.
Her fingers moved to his chest, gripping his jacket before pulling it off with quick, almost restless motions. One button after another came undone without hesitation, without waiting, without asking.
As if nothing else mattered now-except the release she had been chasing all along.
“Easy, my love,” Cale murmured against her breath, though his tone didn’t truly restrain her-it sounded more like he was savoring the chaos Lydia had created.
“I can’t,” Lydia whispered, her voice strained, barely holding together. “You’re the one who made me like this.”
Cale let out a low chuckle. His grip tightened at her waist, steadying her as she kept stepping back. He let her push her own limits, let her be the first to lose control.
Lydia’s back nearly met the bed when Cale pulled her back slightly-holding her there, as if deliberately stretching out the tension coiled inside her.
“Please…” Lydia’s voice weakened, laced with something she could no longer hide. Her fingers clenched around his shirt, pulling him closer. “Stop this… please.”
Cale lowered his head, so close their breaths tangled once more.
“Stop?” he echoed softly.

Lydia shook her head quickly, frustration breaking through. “It feels…” She squeezed her eyes shut, one hand drifting down along her thigh. “Please.”
Cale looked at her-his gaze dark, steady, completely at odds with Lydia’s unraveling state. “Then beg me properly, my love.” His fingers brushed gently against her flushed cheek.
Lydia’s hands gripped his shoulders tighter this time. “Don’t make me wait any longer.”
Cale stilled-for a single second.
But it was enough to nearly shatter whatever control Lydia had left.
Then, without another word, he pulled her closer-and this time, he didn’t hold anything back.
Lydia’s body met the bed as Cale guided her down, his movements far gentler than before. His hands stayed with her, steadying her, making sure she didn’t fall.
“You really have no patience,” he murmured.
Lydia looked at him, her breathing uneven, her face flushed-yet this time, there was no resistance left. “Stop talking,” she whispered.
Cale’smiled.
And for the first time since all of this began-he stopped holding back.
“In that case…” He slipped off the shirt that was already hanging open. “Let me take care of you, my love. I’ll make sure you remember exactly what I do to you tonight.”

Some time later, the room fell quiet once more.
Lydia lay on her side of the bed, her breathing steady again. Her face looked far more peaceful now, as if all the earlier restlessness had dissolved into the exhaustion that had finally pulled her into sleep.
The traces of what had passed between them were still unmistakable-clothes scattered carelessly across the floor, her hair in soft disarray, faint marks blooming along her neck and collarbone. And on Cale’s back, a long scratch that hadn’t quite faded.
But none of it compared to what they had felt.
Wild. Consuming. Every second of it lived through without restraint-until, at last, their bodies gave in where their desire had
not.
Cale was the first to wake.
His eyes opened slowly, then shifted to the side. Lydia was still fast asleep. Even in rest, she looked beautiful, a soft flush still lingering on her cheeks. It held his gaze there, unwilling to look anywhere else.
For several minutes, he simply watched her.
His fingers lifted slowly, brushing against her cheek with care, as if even that small touch might wake her.
He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek. “Sleep a little longer, my love,” he whispered, barely audible.
Then, quietly, he slipped out of bed. His steps were light, almost silent as he moved toward the window.
He retrieved his phone from the blazer discarded on the floor and made a call. It connected almost immediately.
“Sir.”
“Liu,” Cale replied in a low voice. “What’s the situation?”

“No significant changes. Everything remains the same.”
Cale looked out the window, the city lights still glowing below. “Meet her.”
There was a brief pause on the other end. “Yes, sir.”
“I also want you to arrange a meeting between us,” Cale continued. “Not now. After I return to Hong Kong.”
“Understood.”
“And until then,” Cale’s voice lowered further, more serious now, “make sure she stays away from anything dangerous.”
“Including Falcon’s environment?”
“Especially that.”
Liu fell silent for a moment before responding, “I’ll keep a close watch on her.”
Cale gave a small nod. “Make sure she doesn’t disappear again.”
“Yes, sir.”
That was enough. Cale ended the call without hesitation, his gaze lingering on the view outside. From this height, Berlin looked beautiful-calm, almost untouched.
But his thoughts were far from it.
The last heir of the Chen family was still alive.
And that meant-
the past he thought he had buried wasn’t truly over.
He let out a slow breath, then turned back, intending to return to the bed-to the warmth beneath the same covers as his wife.
But he stopped. Something shifted. A small sound-just enough to make him freeze.
Because Lydia was there.
She wasn’t asleep. And somehow… she had heard. For a fraction of a second, their eyes met.
“You’re… awake?” Cale asked, keeping his tone light, though something uneasy flickered beneath it.
Lydia smiled faintly. Her arms crossed over her chest. She was still wearing only her lace bra and underwear-something that would normally be distracting.
But not now.
Right now she looked far more dangerous than alluring.
“Were you really planning to keep this from me, Cale?”
