HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 724

Chapter 724

The drive to TnC’s Hong Kong branch was fairly quiet. From the moment they got into the car, Cale had already been occupied with several reports. Lydia let her husband work without disturbing him. It was part of his responsibility, after all. Every now and then, she could also hear Liu briefing him on various problems that had

come up.

Their car moved smoothly through the downtown streets, now slowly filling with morning activity. Beyond the window, Lydia watched rows of towering buildings standing proudly beneath a pale overcast sky.

But her thoughts weren’t really out there.

She glanced sideways at Cale, who sat beside her. Perhaps because she had been stealing too many glances, he eventually noticed.

“Continue,” Cale said as he handed his work tablet to Liu.

Liu was clearly startled, but he couldn’t refuse. “Yes, sir. But please review it again before sending it to the client.”

Cale waved him off briefly before shifting in his seat so he was facing Lydia instead. “What’s making my beautiful wife so quiet?”

Lydia clicked her tongue in annoyance. “Would you even like it if I interrupted you?”

“No,” Cale answered immediately. “So… what’s making you this quiet?”

As irritating as Cale could be, impossible to negotiate with once he had set his mind on something, stubborn to the core, he was also incredibly perceptive. He noticed everything around him, especially when it concerned the people connected to his family.

That was exactly why Lydia could rarely hide anything from him.

“So I really can’t go back to SunCity?” Lydia finally asked. Her attention settled fully on him as she reached out to straighten his tie, which had shifted slightly crooked.

Cale didn’t answer right away. “For now, no.'”

Lydia let out a soft sigh. “I still think all of this is too much.”

“You almost got hurt yesterday. It’s a good thing Daniel knows how to drive like that.”

“I know.” Lydia leaned back into her seat. “But still… my life suddenly changed in just a few days.”

Cale gently brushed his hand over the top of her head, his touch affectionate. “You shouldn’t be surprised. Once you become part of the Miller family’s circle, something is bound to change suddenly.”

“But still,” Lydia grumbled, clearly not convinced.

“I just want to make sure you’re safe.”

Lydia stayed quiet for a moment before finally saying, “If the situation is really that bad… then I’ll think about the offer you mentioned.”

Cale gave a short nod. “Rather than letting you go back to SunCity, I’d rather you inconvenience Chris instead,” he said quietly. “At least his place isn’t easy to track.”

“I haven’t actually agreed to leave yet,” Lydia muttered quickly.

“I know.”

Lydia crossed her arms over her chest, glaring at him with obvious irritation. “Don’t look so satisfied with yourself.”

The corner of Cale’s lips lifted faintly. “I’m just glad you’re starting to consider it.”

Lydia clicked her tongue softly and turned her face toward the window. It was infuriating how calm he could still look in the middle of all this chaos.

“I love you, sweetheart.”

Cale ended the words with a brief kiss against Lydia’s temple, completely unconcerned that Liu and the driver in front had both quickly turned their faces away the moment they noticed how openly affectionate he was with her.

Not long after, the car entered the main TnC Hong Kong building complex.

The moment she stepped out of the car, Lydia immediately sensed how different the atmosphere was compared to the SunCity branch office. This building was far busier. People moved back and forth at a rapid pace, and several staff members could be seen carrying stacks of documents while speaking through communication devices.

The partnership Cale had been working on over the past few days was clearly beginning to show results.

“Good morning, Mr. Cale.”

“The cooperation documents are already in the meeting room, sir.’

“Director Han requested an additional schedule for next week.”
