“If that’s true, then we ask that Mr. Kai not hide it from us.”
“Your information network moves surprisingly fast,” Cale replied flatly.
“We’re only trying to ensure the safety of Chief Chen’s last surviving heir,” another man added. His eyes lingered on Cale with obvious interest.
“And you expect me to believe that’s your real intention?” Cale shot back coldly.
The man smiled faintly. “Of course.”
“Then where were all of you during those years when no one bothered searching for the heir?” Cale’s voice turned sharper. “The moment she ended up in my hands, suddenly everyone wants to protect her.”
The silence that followed immediately became suffocating.
A bald-headed man cleared his throat awkwardly. Even though his gaze faltered under Cale’s stare, he still forced himself to speak. “Mr. Cale, we didn’t come here to cause trouble. But Miss Chen’s existence is too important to keep hidden.”
“Besides, you know how hard we tried to find her, Mr. Kai,” another man argued quickly.
“Yes, Mr. Guozhi is right. We never stopped searching.”
“Really?” Cale asked, his eyes narrowing dangerously. “Because from what I saw, ever since the head of the Chen family died and I took over everything, all of you have been busy enjoying the profits.”
Once again, no one answered.
But the first man who had questioned Cale earlier, Shio-ming, spoke up again. “It must be fate ordained by the heavens that you were the one who found Miss Chen, Mr. Kai. Her existence is vital to all of us. We hope you’ll consider our request.”
“Vital to who?” Cale asked flatly.
“To the entire alliance still loyal to Chief Chen,” Shio-ming replied without hesitation.
“Bullshit!”
Cale slammed his hand against the table so hard that every voice in the room instantly died. The sharp crack echoed through the meeting room, silencing the restless murmurs at once. This time, his tone was far colder, far more commanding.
“None of you actually care about that girl,” Cale continued icily. “The only thing you care about is who manages to get her on their side.”
One of the men immediately looked offended. “We’re willing to sacrifice our lives for the Chen family heir, Mr. Kai. You know that.”
“Is that so?” A faint smirk curled on Cale’s lips. “Then where were you that night? Getting drunk with three women at the Horse Club?”
The man instantly lowered his head. His face flushed red with humiliation and restrained anger.
“Don’t mistake my willingness to still involve you people in the Chen family business as permission to act however you please.”

This time, Cale kicked one of the chairs aside with enough force to make everyone flinch.
“I, Chen Kailun, am the one entrusted to continue everything related to the Chen family, including matters concerning its heir.”
Cale’s eyes swept slowly across each of them. Every single man had lowered his head now. Some of them were even trembling under the thunderous weight of his voice.
“Who here still dares to question that?”
No one answered.
“You’d all just fight over her name to strengthen your own influence.”
Again, no one denied it. That silence alone was enough to confirm what Cale already believed. They were all just as rotten as garbage.
Cale’s gaze grew even colder. “Don’t talk to me about loyalty when profit is the only thing on your minds.”
