Chapter 729
“The meeting is over,” Cale said coldly. “Leave.”
No one dared argue anymore.
One by one, they stood and left the meeting room with steps far more cautious than when they had first arrived.
Meanwhile, ever since Cale entered that room, Lydia had been restless.
Deeply restless.
She could no longer focus on the reports she had been organizing for him. Her eyes kept drifting toward the tightly shut door, as though she was deliberately being kept away from whatever was happening inside.
But Lydia wasn’t out of ideas.
Slowly, she moved closer to the meeting room, silently praying the door wouldn’t suddenly open before she managed to hear anything.
The conversation inside was muffled, but still faintly audible.
Including-
“Oh, God…” Lydia flinched in shock when Cale’s thunderous voice suddenly exploded from inside, followed by the loud slam of a hand against the table. A moment later came the harsh scraping sound of a chair crashing against the wall, proof that her husband was genuinely furious.
What exactly were they discussing that made Cale this angry?
And why did it involve the Chen family heir?
That meant… Naomi, didn’t it?
Right when the door finally opened, the people exiting the room found Lydia standing not far away.
The atmosphere instantly turned awkward.
One of the men who had spoken the most during the meeting suddenly stopped in front of her. He bowed politely. “You must be Mrs. Miller,” he greeted courteously.
Lydia gave a small nod. “Good afternoon.”
The man smiled faintly. “Mr. Kai truly has excellent taste when it comes to choosing a partner.”
A slight crease formed between Lydia’s brows at the way the man referred to Cale, but she chose not to comment.
“If Mr. Kai already has a partner,” the man continued slowly, “then introducing Miss Chen to the public really is the best decision.”
Lydia immediately felt something unpleasant creeping into the direction of the conversation, and a second later, her instincts proved right.
“We could help find a suitable partner for Miss Chen,” the man said casually. “Of course… with Mr. Kai’s approval as her guardian.”
The atmosphere froze instantly.
Lydia’s eyes narrowed with suspicion. What exactly did he mean by that? Why was he suddenly talking about

arranged marriages and dragging Naomi into it too?
Then, from inside the meeting room, the sound of slow footsteps approached.
Cale appeared in the doorway, and the moment he heard that last sentence, his expression hardened immediately.
“Leave.”
His voice was low, but the fury inside it was unmistakable.
The man still tried to smile. “Mr. Kai, we’re only thinking about the future of the hei-”
“I said leave.”
This time, Cale’s voice came out far sharper.
The atmosphere around them shifted instantly, becoming unbearably oppressive.
Even Liu reflexively lowered his head slightly.
The man finally fell silent. He gave Lydia a polite bow before leaving with the others at last.
The moment their final footsteps disappeared down the corridor, Cale immediately turned to Liu. “Find out who leaked Naomi’s whereabouts.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Everyone reacted too quickly.” Cale’s gaze darkened. “Someone deliberately spread this information.”
Liu nodded immediately. “I’ll investigate it right away.”
