HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 749

Chapter 749

“I’m not cruel enough to leave for work after exhausting my wife all night.”

Lydia’s eyes widened instantly. “Cale!”

The man only looked more satisfied seeing her reaction.

Lydia’s entire face turned red all the way to her ears. “You seriously have no shame.”

“And yet last night, someone seemed to enjoy her own idea very much.”

Lydia reflexively grabbed a small napkin and tossed it lightly toward Cale.

For the first time that morning, the man actually laughed.

And the sound of his laughter instantly made the atmosphere inside the pavilion feel much more alive.

Only then did Lydia realize how long it had been since she had seen Cale this relaxed. No cold expression weighed down by pressure. No guarded eyes constantly calculating the dangers surrounding them.

Just… Cale.

Her husband.

That infuriating man who somehow always managed to make her feel safe without even trying.

Lydia’s gaze slowly drifted toward the dining table. “Did you prepare all of this?”

“There are servants in this house,” Cale replied calmly while pulling out the chair beside him.

“Oh. Right.”

Cale poured warm tea into Lydia’s cup before saying, “Naomi’s having breakfast with her two assistants this morning.”

Lydia immediately turned toward him. “I hope Naomi can adapt quickly.”

“I’m sure she can,” Cale answered with a small nod. “So you don’t need to spend every morning worrying about her the second you wake up.”

Lydia let out a soft sigh. “I’m just afraid she’ll feel lonely in a place this big.”

“That’s impossible.”

“You really are terrible at showing emotion.”

Cale only chuckled quietly at that.

But the peaceful atmosphere suddenly shattered.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

Loud knocking echoed from outside the pavilion doors. Lydia flinched instinctively, her shoulders jumping slightly, while Cale calmly continued sipping his tea as though nothing had happened.

“Come in,” he said flatly.

The door flew open immediately.

Naomi stormed inside carrying her own breakfast plate with a deeply offended expression on her face. Her two assistants hurried after her, though they both looked increasingly pale the moment their eyes met Cale’s. They instantly lowered their

heads.

“I can’t stand eating with them anymore!” Naomi complained rapidly before she had even fully entered the room. “They keep staring at me like I’m about to be sworn in as head of state!”

Lydia burst into soft laughter at her expression.

Naomi walked farther inside while continuing to rant. “I couldn’t even grab bread normally. One of them immediately stood up and sliced it for me!”

“That sounds deeply tragic,” Cale commented flatly.

“It was horrifying!”

But Naomi’s steps suddenly stopped. Her eyes slowly widened. Her gaze dropped toward Lydia. The thin satin nightdress. Her slightly messy hair. The faint reddish marks near her neck that were barely hidden beneath the cardigan.

Then Naomi slowly turned toward Cale.

And back to Lydia again.

An awkward silence instantly filled the room.

Naomi’s face turned bright red almost immediately. “I…” Her voice became noticeably smaller. “I’m sorry.”

Only then did Lydia realize how she currently looked. She instantly pulled the cardigan tighter around herself. “Naomi, wait, listen first-❞

“I didn’t see anything!” Naomi hurriedly cut her off while quickly turning her face away. “I seriously didn’t see anything!”

Meanwhile, Cale looked completely calm. “You actually saw quite clearly.”

“MR. MILLER!” Naomi instantly covered her face with one hand while stumbling back several steps. “I’m leaving!” she blurted out in embarrassment. “Please continue… whatever it was you two were doing.”

Lydia nearly choked hearing that. “Naomi!”
