Rain had started falling by the time the convoy of black cars left the central Hong Kong hospital.

The streets grew quieter as they headed toward the Chen family’s main residence.

Naomi sat silently in the back seat beside Lydia. She had undergone a physical examination as well, but just as she had insisted earlier, she was fine.

Ever since leaving the hospital, the girl had barely spoken at all.

Meanwhile, in the front seat, Cale sat leaning back comfortably despite the bandages wrapped around his left arm. Fortunately, the knife hadn’t struck anything fatal. But because he had continued using that arm during the fight, repeatedly throwing punches, the wound had ended up tearing open even more.

Lydia glanced toward Naomi and let out a quiet sigh.

“You’re safe with us now. And Cale’s already been treated by the doctors, so you don’t need to worry anymore.”

Naomi turned toward her and nodded slowly.

“Yes… I understand.”

After that, silence settled between them again. Liu, who was driving tonight, didn’t dare say much either. Beside him, Cale kept his eyes fixed ahead even though his posture appeared relaxed against the seat.

Liu knew exactly what kind of mood the man was in tonight. And no one dared disturb him.

Not long afterward, the massive iron gates slowly opened beneath the heavy rain. Security around the estate had tightened even further, and the guards visibly became more alert the moment Cale’s car entered through the gates.

As soon as the vehicle stopped, Cale stepped out first.

Several armed men were already stationed across different corners of the property.

“We’ve sealed every external access point,” Liu reported while walking beside him. “No one can enter without permission.”

“Make sure of it.”

“Yes, sir.”

Naomi stepped out of the car more slowly, but before she could walk very far, Cale turned back toward her again.

“Rest in your room. Don’t go anywhere alone.”

Naomi parted her lips as if she wanted to say something about his injury… or thank him for saving her.

But apparently, the man didn’t care to hear it. He simply walked away toward another room alongside Liu and several of his trusted men. Naomi could only stare at his back until he disappeared from view.

“Come on, we should get some rest,” Lydia said softly as she rubbed Naomi’s shoulder gently.

All Naomi could do was nod.

Almost an hour had passed since Naomi locked herself inside her room.

Her two assistants could only exchange confused looks from a distance. The warm soup prepared for her along with the supplements she was supposed to take remained completely untouched. In fact, Naomi had repeatedly asked to be left alone.

“We’re sorry, Miss Chen, but we can’t do that,” one of the assistants said apologetically. “Master Kai gave strict orders that

Naomi chose to ignore both of them.

“Naomi, it’s me.”

Lydia entered slowly after the door was opened. She looked exhausted. Her hair was slightly messy, and the usual calmness on

her face had faded.

“You still haven’t eaten the soup Park Jin made?” Lydia glanced toward the tray of untouched food. “Try to eat at least a little-”

“I don’t want to,” Naomi interrupted quietly. “My stomach feels too sick to eat anything.”

Lydia gave her an understanding smile.

“I know tonight shocked you. And you were terrified. But you still need to think about your condition right now.”

Naomi immediately lowered her head. Tears gathered once again at the corners of her eyes.
