HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 819

A day before they returned to Carrington Bay, Chris suddenly appeared in the family room just as Naomi was enjoying some quiet time. The man stood in front of the sofa with both hands tucked into his pockets and an expression that immediately made Naomi suspicious.

"Come with me."

Naomi didn't even lift her head from the book she was reading. "No."

"You don't even know where I'm taking you." Chris clicked his tongue in annoyance. He then sat down directly across from Naomi. "You're going to regret turning down this invita—"

"I won't regret it at all," Naomi replied flatly. She turned another page of the book that had captured her attention, completely unconcerned by Chris's sudden appearance.

Daven had already returned to the office. Cale and Nathan were away on a business visit and had said they would be coming home late after stopping by the hospital. To check Nathan's condition one more time. Meanwhile, Althea and Riana were visiting a relative. Unlike Lydia, who had gone to visit her former office.

Everything in the Miller household had returned to its normal routine.

Except...

"Come on, you're really going to regret it if you don't come with me. You're going back to Carrington Bay tomorrow, right?"

"I don't want to."

Chris let out a long breath. "Why does every conversation with you feel like I'm pitching a business proposal that's guaranteed to be rejected?"

This time, Naomi finally looked at him. "You have a bad reputation."

"That's slander." Chris stared at her in disbelief after hearing that remark.

The girl shrugged. "It's a fact."

Chris closed his eyes briefly, as if trying to stop himself from arguing. "I just want to take you out for lunch."

Back in Berlin, the shopping districts in the city center had never felt this crowded. Although she still hadn't explored many places in Carrington Bay, it felt like... there was something different about Sun City.

The city felt more alive.

Chris, of course, knew the place well.

Every now and then, he pointed at a building outside the glass windows and told her something about it. Sometimes it was about the company that owned the building—TnC Group, owned by the Miller family. Sometimes it was about a project currently under development. Other times, it was about how a business could grow enormously simply because of the right decision made at the right time.

At first, Naomi listened absentmindedly, but the longer she listened, the more she realized something.

Chris actually knew a lot. Far more than he usually let on. All this time, she had always thought of him as too laid-back, too fond of joking around, and too prone to causing trouble.

But that afternoon, Naomi saw a side of Chris that he rarely showed. A side that was more mature, more intelligent, and far more serious than she had expected.
