That afternoon, Cale's office was once again filled with an atmosphere that had become very familiar to him.

Stacks of documents covered part of his desk, several financial reports were waiting for his approval, and most importantly, his meeting schedule for the next two weeks was already neatly arranged on his monitor. After spending nearly the entire day outside attending several important meetings, Cale had finally returned to the office.

Vincent entered a few minutes later carrying a cream-colored envelope. "Mr. Cale."

Cale, who was signing the last document, briefly lifted his gaze. "What now?"

Vincent placed the envelope on the desk. "An invitation."

Cale's brow immediately furrowed. For some reason, a bad feeling surfaced the moment he saw the sender's name printed on the front of the envelope.

Annoyance rose within him before he had even opened it. Still, he had to remain calm no matter what was in front of him. Casually, Cale picked up the envelope and removed the invitation card inside. His eyes moved quickly over every line written on it.

A Devereux family gathering, to be held on a weekend evening. And... located at the private residence of the Evermont family.

Cale read the entire invitation to the end before setting it back down on the desk. His expression did not change, but that was precisely what made Vincent even more cautious.

Because the calmer Cale appeared, the more unpleasant whatever he was thinking usually was.

"Is something bothering you?" Vincent asked carefully.

Cale leaned back in his chair. "What do you think Silas is after?"

Vincent was silent for a few moments. "That's exactly what I've been wondering since receiving this invitation. I've looked into it, and nearly every member of the Devereux family received one. And most likely, they'll attend."

"Of course they will," Cale replied with a cynical laugh.

But the laughter quickly disappeared.

"We didn't find anything suspicious," Vincent replied confidently. "Everything appeared completely normal."

Vincent let out a quiet breath before continuing. "We also didn't uncover any significant activity from Falcon."

Cale raised an eyebrow and looked directly at his assistant. "That only makes me more uncomfortable."

Vincent agreed. Because someone like Don Falcon was not the kind of man who suddenly gave up. Especially after everything that had nearly happened to Naomi. Of course, neither of them could forget that. And if necessary, they would retaliate.

There were simply several things that needed to be considered before taking action.

"So far, the only information we have still comes from Brandon."

Cale said nothing. His eyes returned to the invitation lying on the desk.

Brandon had said that Don Falcon would not give up on Naomi. For some reason, Don Falcon wanted Naomi desperately.
