Naomi wanted to protest, but apparently Chris whispered something that ultimately left her with no choice but to give in.
And without either of them realizing it, that simple interaction looked very different through other people’s eyes. They appeared close, as though they had known each other for a long time. Was there something between them that no one else knew about?
All this time, what he knew of Naomi’s life in Berlin was that she had been occupied with part-time jobs just to survive. There had never been a man around her. And now? Who was the man walking beside Naomi?
The glass he was holding tightened further within his grip.
“Russel,” he called to one of the staff members nearby.
“Yes, Mr. Falcon.” Russel immediately approached.
“Find out who that man,” Falcon said, pointing at the man standing beside Naomi.
Russel stared intently in the indicated direction and immediately nodded. “Yes, sir.”
After Russel left, he drained the remaining wine in his glass in a single swallow. His jaw tightened, and his gaze continued to follow Naomi’s every step. Especially when the girl let out a small laugh at the man’s antics. And the longer he watched, the clearer the displeasure that appeared on his face became.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, far above the crowd of guests, a man stood alone on the second-floor balcony. One hand rested casually on the railing. His gaze swept across the entire hall without hurry.
Observing the guests, including the host of the party. Observing the people who had come that night. But in the end, his attention stopped at a single point.
The girl in the blue gown who had quickly become the center of many people’s attention. And... the man standing beside her.
“So that’s the girl my foolish brother wants?”
But in the end, Brandon’s attention kept returning to the same point—Naomi Devereux. The girl who did not even realize how many pairs of eyes were watching her tonight.
Brandon took another sip of the wine in his hand. As though everything happening below was merely entertainment deliberately provided for him. Then, without realizing it, his gaze shifted toward the entrance of the main hall.
A slight furrow appeared on his brow. Several guests began turning in the same direction, followed by others. The conversations that had previously filled the room gradually died down.
Brandon lowered his glass. The look in his eyes changed. And for the first time that night, Brandon’s attention was no longer focused on Naomi or Chris.
Instead, it was fixed on the figure who had just entered the hall. The figure whose mere appearance changed the entire atmosphere of the party.
“Well...” A faint smile appeared on the man’s face once more. “He finally arrived.”
