“Just a moment. I’m sure it won’t be a bother—”

But before Falcon could finish his sentence, another voice sounded from the direction of the hall.

“I believe my fiancée has already given you her answer.”

The voice made Naomi immediately turn around.

Chris.

The man walked closer with relaxed steps, as though there were no tension at all in this corridor. One hand remained tucked into his trouser pocket while a faint smile lingered at the corner of his lips. But Naomi knew him well enough to understand one thing.

Whenever Chris looked this calm, it usually meant something had displeased him.

For some reason, just seeing Chris appear made the tension that had been filling Naomi’s chest gradually ease. She had not even realized that she had been holding her breath the entire time she was facing Falcon.

Chris stopped right beside her. Not too close, but his presence was obvious enough to make one thing clear: Naomi was not alone.

“Mr. Falcon.” His tone sounded light. Almost friendly. “Sometimes, respecting boundaries is important.”

Falcon did not answer immediately. His gaze shifted from Naomi to Chris. It was very different from the look he had worn earlier in the hall. There was no longer any attempt to appear polite or courteous in front of a crowd.

All that remained was a dislike that was becoming increasingly difficult to conceal.

Meanwhile, Chris still appeared relaxed. “Especially when a woman has already said no.”

Falcon stared at Chris for quite some time, his gaze sharp and filled with obvious displeasure. Eventually, however, he gave up.

“Very well.” Falcon curled his lips into a faint smirk. “If you don’t want to talk to me right now, that’s fine.” Once again, Falcon fixed his gaze on Naomi. “But someday, I guarantee that you’ll be the one asking to talk to me.”

Then the man simply left as though nothing had happened between them. Meanwhile, Naomi unconsciously clenched her hands. So tightly that she could feel her nails digging into her palms.

Unlike Chris, who gently rubbed Naomi’s shoulder. “Are you okay?”

Naomi slowly closed her eyes, drawing in as much air as possible to calm herself before letting it out gradually. “Yes... I’m fine.”

“What kind of trip to the restroom takes this long?” Chris asked in a protesting tone. “If I hadn’t come, I think you would’ve ended up talking to that man alone.”

Chris laughed when he saw the adorable expression on Naomi’s face. “Brandon is... Don Falcon’s younger brother.”

Naomi stopped walking on the spot.

That caused Chris, who had continued moving forward, to stop as well and turn around. He found Naomi standing there in silence, her shocked expression impossible to hide.

“Oh? Are you really that surprised by this fact?” Chris walked back toward Naomi.

“Are you serious?” Naomi asked, disbelief filling her eyes. “Mr. Brandon is Falcon’s... brother?”

“Yes.” Chris spoke with complete certainty.

“But... they’re doing business together!” Naomi truly could not understand Cale’s thinking this time. There was no way the man did not know this fact, right? Or...

“Does Mr. Cale not know who Brandon is?”

Before Chris could say anything, Naomi had already started walking quickly as she said, “I have to tell him! I don’t like Mr. Cale being involved with people connected to Falcon!”
