HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 911

Within seconds, Alpha Team moved out first, advancing along the front path lined with low shrubs. Their footsteps were nearly silent. Bravo Team immediately circled around from the east as ordered, using the dense trees as cover for their approach. Meanwhile, Charlie Team spread out to their assigned positions, making sure no possible escape route went unwatched.

Chris and Brandon split up. Both remained connected to Paula through their communication headsets.

"The drone is still active," Paula reported from the command center. "The two guards by the garage haven't moved."

Chris didn't respond. His eyes remained fixed on the old house, which was now coming into clearer view before them.

The closer they got to the target, the stronger that uneasy feeling became. The house was far too quiet. There were no voices, no sounds of conversation, and no signs of the kind of activity that would suggest it was under heavy guard.

Brandon seemed to be sensing the same thing. "There should be more men on the side of the house, Chris. Do you copy?"

"Loud and clear," Chris replied with an irritated click of his tongue. "Keep watching and don't miss a single detail."

"Got it."

They continued moving cautiously through the area.

About fifty meters ahead, the two men they had seen through the drone camera were still standing beside the black SUV. One was smoking while occasionally checking his phone, while the other yawned, completely unaware that more than a dozen people had already surrounded their location.

"There's no way Falcon would leave Naomi in the hands of just two guards," Chris murmured.

"That's exactly why this feels wrong," Brandon replied quietly.

Paula's voice came through the headset again. "Bravo Team has reached the rear position."

A few seconds later, Gio's voice followed over the communication channel. "The rear of the house is clear. No guards."

Chris stopped walking. His expression immediately sharpened. "No guards? Not a single one?"

"That's right."

Chris turned toward one of the Alpha Team members, who looked back at him with the same puzzled expression. The more reports that came in, the more they reinforced the suspicion that something was not unfolding the way it should.

Paula zoomed in on the drone feed again.

"Wait." The woman's voice changed slightly.

Chris immediately raised his hand, signaling the entire team to stop moving.

"What is it?"

"The SUV." The monitor displayed the black SUV parked beside the garage. "There's no engine heat."

Chris frowned. "What do you mean?"

"The engine has been off for a long time."

Brandon immediately understood what she meant. "If those two guards are really standing watch..." His eyes remained fixed on the display in front of him. "...they're not getting ready to leave."

Chris drew a slow breath. Before he could reach a conclusion, one of Charlie Team's members suddenly reported in.

Brandon clenched his jaw. "Damn."

But Chris had not lost either his composure or his ability to act quickly under pressure. He stood up again and looked toward the old house, now only a few dozen feet away.

"Falcon really did think of everything." He drew a deep breath. "But if Naomi really was moved from here..." His gaze became even sharper. "Then she was in that house."

Chris raised his hand once more. This time, there wasn't the slightest trace of hesitation on his face.

"Alpha Team."

The six men immediately turned toward him.

"Go in and capture those two guards. I need clear answers from them."

In one swift movement, the two men at the front sprinted toward the iron gate. A hydraulic tool was immediately secured to the chain locking the gate, while the others raised their weapons, keeping watch on every window of the house, which still appeared eerily quiet.

Click...

The sound of the iron chain being forced taut echoed through the air. Everyone held their breath. Then...

BANG!

The iron gate was finally forced open.

Without waiting another second, Alpha Team stormed into the yard, while Chris and Brandon followed several steps behind them, pistols raised and ready to face whatever awaited beyond the door of the old house.
