Brandon didn't answer. His gaze remained fixed straight ahead, while his index finger rested calmly on the trigger of his pistol. The slightest movement from Falcon, and he was ready to pull the trigger without hesitation.
Falcon chuckled softly. “I let you find it.”
Naomi frowned in confusion. Her gaze shifted from Falcon to Brandon. She hoped Brandon would deny what he had said, but the man remained silent. There wasn't the slightest trace of panic on his face. Instead, his eyes only grew sharper, watching Falcon's every subtle movement.
Falcon smiled again.
“I deliberately left a trail. I deliberately let your men follow the path I wanted them to take.” He stepped forward, his leather shoes making a soft sound against the damp concrete floor. “Did you really think you could hunt me down?”
Brandon gave a faint grin. “Really?” His voice was flat, yet enough to show that he wasn't so easily manipulated.
Falcon merely shrugged. “If not,” he said casually, “how else could you have arrived here at exactly the right time?”
This time, Brandon let out a quiet laugh. “If that was your objective, then you've already prepared your escape route as well.” He kept his eyes fixed on Falcon without looking away. “People who are too confident usually forget to prepare a backup plan.”
The warehouse fell silent again. Only the sound of water dripping from the ceiling and the faint hum of aircraft engines in the distance could still be heard.
Falcon's smile widened. “I've been waiting for you.”
Brandon didn't even blink. “If all you came here to do was talk nonsense,” he said coldly, “you're wasting my time.”
Falcon laughed quietly. “No.” He slowly shook his head. “Why would I waste my time talking to you?”
His expression sharpened.
“I'm waiting for one more person.”
Brandon felt something tighten in his chest. “One more person?”
Falcon casually glanced at the watch on his wrist, as though he were waiting for a guest who was late to a party. “Chris.”
The name caused Brandon's expression to shift for the briefest instant. Falcon knew. He not only knew where they were. He even knew exactly who was involved in this operation. One question immediately surfaced in Brandon's mind.
How did he know?
Had there been a leak? Or... had they been led here from the very beginning?
