HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 948

The entire warehouse suddenly froze.

Falcon kept his pistol aimed at Brandon's head. His cold gaze slowly shifted toward the warehouse entrance, searching for the source of the shot that had just ruined the victory that had been almost within his grasp.

“At last.” The corner of Falcon's mouth lifted again, this time forming a faint smile that was difficult to read.

Brandon raised his head as well, though his vision was beginning to blur from blood loss. The sound of running footsteps echoed from the corridor outside. They grew closer, and there were more of them with each passing second.

The next instant, Chris burst in with more than a dozen additional personnel, who immediately spread throughout the warehouse in a disciplined formation. The muzzles of their weapons moved swiftly, locking onto every one of Falcon's men who was still standing.

Chris's gaze didn't stop on Brandon. It continued sweeping across the room, searching for the one person he had to find immediately. The moment his eyes found Naomi, still taking cover behind the pillar with the frightened elderly woman, his entire expression changed.

His jaw tightened. “Naomi!”

The sound of his voice made Naomi turn. Their eyes met. For a moment, Naomi felt as though the crushing weight that had been pressing on her chest all this time simply disappeared.

“Chris.” Her voice was barely audible. She had never imagined that he would actually come. Tears streamed down her face before she could stop them. If not for the situation she was trapped in, Naomi would have run to him without a second thought.

Falcon laughed. The sound was quiet, yet enough to send a chill down the spine of anyone who heard it. “Now it's complete.”

His gaze moved from the wounded Brandon to the newly arrived Chris, then to Naomi, who stood several meters away.

“All my favorite pieces.” He let out a long breath, as though savoring the sight before him. “Finally gathered in one place.”

Chris raised his pistol higher. “Let Naomi go.” His voice was firm. Everyone could hear the immense anger hidden beneath his calm demeanor.

Falcon grinned. “Is that an order from Chris Miller?” Then he slowly shook his head. “You're too late.”

Without warning, his left hand moved swiftly, drawing a second pistol from inside his suit.

Bang!

The bullet struck one of the industrial lights hanging from the warehouse ceiling. Shattering glass exploded through the silence.

Crash!

Fragments of the light rained down like a shower.

Half the warehouse was immediately swallowed by shadows. The only remaining light came from a few emergency lamps in the far corners of the room. It cast dark silhouettes that made it difficult to see.
