Falcon no longer paid any attention to the people behind him.
The muzzle of his pistol remained pressed against Naomi's temple, while his left hand gripped her arm so tightly that it was almost certain to leave fresh bruises.
“Move.”
His voice was soft, almost a whisper.
Naomi stumbled as she was forced to walk. Her legs were still trembling from the blow she had just taken. Every step felt as though she were walking on broken glass, but Falcon didn't slow down in the slightest.
“Ah!” A quiet groan escaped Naomi's lips.
Falcon continued dragging her toward the warehouse's side door. Behind them, no one dared make a reckless move.
Brandon was still standing, his body swaying. Blood continued to seep from his shoulder, running down his arm to his fingers. Chris immediately caught him by the shoulder before Brandon could lose his balance again.
“Brandon,” he said quietly.
Brandon ignored the stabbing pain. His eyes never left Naomi. “Damn it!”
Several Alpha Team members quickly rushed over. Two of them immediately supported Brandon from either side, while the others kept their weapons trained on Falcon, waiting for even the smallest opening.
But that opening never came. As long as the muzzle of the pistol remained pressed against Naomi's head... no one dared take the risk. Even Chris was left powerless by what Falcon was doing to Naomi.
Falcon kept walking. Strangely, his pace had become much more relaxed now. In fact, far too relaxed for someone who could be said to be almost completely surrounded.
A soft hum escaped his lips, an old tune whose melody sounded unfamiliar to anyone who heard it. He hummed without a care, as though he weren't surrounded by dozens of armed men.
The tune echoed softly through the warehouse, thick with the smell of gunpowder and blood. There wasn't the slightest trace of unease on Falcon's face.
On the contrary... he carried absolute confidence that he was the victor in this battle. He was equally certain that the aircraft that would take him to a larger airport for his connecting flight was already waiting.
In just a few hours, he would leave this country behind. Leave behind everyone who was still busy chasing him.
And Naomi... would be going to Berlin with him.
Falcon pushed the steel door open with his shoulder. Its heavy hinges let out a long creak.
Creeeak...
The door slowly swung open.
The night air rushed in at once, carrying a cold breeze that swept across the open space behind the warehouse. Naomi's disheveled hair fluttered in the wind, while Falcon's black suit rippled softly with it.
