Mia hesitated for a moment before stepping out of the meeting room. She returned to her desk to grab her bag and turned toward the elevator.

As she passed Ethan, he suddenly grabbed her wrist.

his knuckles turned white from the force.

‘Once you’re transferred, you’ll have no utility left for Jaxon Rivers. How do you think he’ll treat you then?”

Mia figured Jaxon would probably be pulling his hair out in frustration once he heard the news. Now that she was further away from Ethan, Jaxon wouldn’t have a front-row seat to the drama anymore.

Mia pushed his hand away. Her soft, slender fingers brushed against the back of his hand, and her warmth seeped hrough his skin.

For a split second, that touch felt searingly hot, as if it were burning straight into Ethan’s heart. His heart skipped a

beat for no reason.

As his hand was pushed aside, Mia lowered her head slightly and walked away.

Since it was the weekend, there weren’t many people in the office, but the news of Mia’s impending transfer to he Logistics Department spread like wildfire. Before she could even get from the office to her apartment, she was icked out of the main Executive Secretarial Office group chat on WhatsApp.

Then came the removal from all the active project groups.
