Chapter 280
‘Get out, Ethan muttered, his thin lips barely moving.
Leo shifted slightly but didn’t leave. “Do you mean out of the company or out of the office?”
Get out and go ask her.”
Ethan’s eyes were cold and sharp, his face tight with repressed rage.
Leo turned and walked out. After leaving the office, he pulled out his phone and sent a ‘OK’ to Jaxon Rivers.
He didn’t know how Jaxon had found out they were investigating Mia’s pregnancy, but right before Leo had entered Ethan’s office, Jaxon had sent him a message.
The child in Mia’s belly really was Ethan’s.
f this truth came out, the sky would fall.

had set aside his pride and used every bit of his persuasive power to analyze the situation for Leo. If Ethan ound out now, it would be catastrophic for everyone.
Leo agreed with the logic. He also wanted to save his own life.
Working for a man like Ethan was like living with a tiger; Ethan’s mood directly affected Leo’s survival. He’d have o take it one step at a time.
After replying to Jaxon, he called Mia. It rang a few times before she hung up. He tried again, and she hung up
gain.
Soon, Mia sent a message: “Sorry, I’m busy. Send a message if it’s important.*
Mia wasn’t at work, so what was she busy with?
eo sent someone to look into it and quickly uncovered the mess involving Aunt May. After thinking it over, he vent back into Ethan’s office.
Right now, Ms. Carter and Nina are in a standoff with the Orphanage Director. They’re trying to get their money
>ack.”
The veins in the hand Ethan used to grip his pen bulged. His expression was grim.
Do I really have to teach you how to handle a situation like this?”
Leo hesitated for a second, then turned and left without a word. He thought he understood what Ethan meant.
But five minutes later, when Ethan climbed into the car and signaled that he was coming to the orphanage too,
Leo realized he didn’t understand his boss at all.
Throughout the drive, the atmosphere in the cramped car was stifling.
Ethan sat in the passenger seat, his long legs slightly spread and knees bent. A sliver of sunlight hit his jawline. His deep, sharp eyes were hidden in the shadows, making his thoughts impossible to read.
A moment later, the car stopped at the entrance of the orphanage.

Leo turned off the engine and got out, straightening his suit. He looked back at Ethan.
Ethan made no move to get out of the car. But his hawk-like eyes were fixed on the orphanage with a piercing
intensity.
Leo swallowed hard and headed toward the building.
Peering through the windows, he caught sight of people in one of the rooms. He walked over and knocked on the door.
Usually, no one visited the orphanage. Inside the room, Mia had been resting her eyes and bracing herself, but the
knock startled her.
‘Who is it?” Nina stood up immediately, looking at the door with suspicion.
She was worried it was one of Jaxon’s people coming to back up Aunt May. She turned to see Aunt May looking just as confused, then turned her questioning gaze toward Mia.
Mia stood up and looked out the window. When she saw it was Leo, a flash of surprise crossed her face.
What could have brought Leo all the way to the orphanage to find her?
She moved her chair and unlocked the door.
‘Mr. Martinez.”
Leo gave her a polite nod and walked in, carrying a briefcase.
Ms. Carter, Mr. Hale heard you were in trouble and sent me over. This is a legal complaint drafted by our lawyers. If the other party refuses to return your and Nina’s money, you can use the law to protect yourselves. As for the orphanage, don’t worry. Mr. Hale will make the necessary arrangements…”
There were several pages of black and white text, full of complex legal clauses.
Aunt May took one look at it, and her face turned the color of ash.
She had been relying on Jaxon Rivers, but she knew Jaxon wouldn’t protect her. But now, it seemed Mia had found an even more powerful backer!
