Chapter 436
Nina opened her mouth, about to say “okay.”
“I’m sorry,
but something came up and we have to leave. Let’s reschedule for another day,” Mia interrupted. She gave Mrs. Gallagher a polite nod. “Mrs. Gallagher, I won’t take up any more of your time. I’ll be going now.”
“It’s almost noon. Why don’t we grab lunch together?”
Mrs. Gallagher checked her watch and gave a warm invitation. “Actually, I wanted to chat with you about Serena.”
The way she invited Mia sounded as if they were old friends who had bumped into each other and simply had to
share a meal.
“Mrs. Gallagher, we really do have other things to attend to,” Mia repeated.
Only then did Mrs. Gallagher realize Mia was serious.
“Look at me, I wasn’t even paying attention. Go ahead then, take care of your business. We’ll have lunch another
time!”
Mia gave a slight nod, then turned and ushered Nina back into the car.
Nina still looked a bit reluctant.
Mia simply pushed her into the passenger seat and walked around to the driver’s side.
‘Did you see the look on that receptionist’s face? She knew we were just making excuses,” Nina muttered as the windows rolled up.
Mia hit the gas and drove away.
The receptionist was indeed whispering a complaint. “Mrs. Gallagher, those two have been here before. They probably think it’s too expensive. They want to stay but don’t have the money. Let’s ignore them. Would you like o proceed with the $680,000 package for your daughter-in-law? Should I process the paperwork?”
Too expensive?” Mrs. Gallagher turned back, murmuring the words to herself.
Exactly. Last time they came, they only asked about the cheapest tier. To someone like you, the $680,000 op-tier package is pocket change, but to ordinary people, even the $100,000 basic tier is a fortune.”
The receptionist pulled out her clipboard. “You can pay a $100,000 deposit first.”
Mrs. Gallagher fell silent for a moment, glancing once more in the direction Mia had gone.
Book two of the top-tier packages. Put the other one in Miss Carter’s name.”
The receptionist froze. “You want to book one for Miss Carter?”
Mrs. Gallagher gave her a sharp, cooling look. “Is there a problem?”
‘No! None at all!” the receptionist stammered, shaking her head.
‘I heard you have partnerships with hospitals and can book the best OB-GYNs in Everett for deliveries?” Mrs. Gallagher asked.

“Yes, I haven’t had a chance to explain that yet. There is an additional fee for that service. The doctor will come to our center, and the mother can return directly to her room after delivery. It’s very convenient for mothers who are exhausted after birth.”
As soon as she finished the explanation, Mrs. Gallagher pulled out her card. “Book two doctors for me.”
“Booking a doctor is a six-figure fee per person. Are you sure you want to book two?”
The receptionist wasn’t doubting that Mrs. Gallagher had the money. She simply felt there was no reason for Mrs. Gallagher to spend that much on Mia. After all, Mrs. Gallagher and Mia weren’t even related.
‘I’m sure,” Mrs. Gallagher said, handing over her card.
The receptionist didn’t ask further and immediately began processing the payment.
While waiting, Mrs. Gallagher’s phone suddenly rang.
She swiped the screen to answer. The moment she heard the voice on the other end, her brows knit together in a tight scowl.
‘I told you, don’t contact me again unless it’s absolutely necessary. Who told you to come to Everett? Don’t give me that! You solve your own mess! I’m warning you, don’t ever contact me again! If you dare to reveal what happened back then, I’ll make you pay dearly!”
Mrs. Gallagher’s voice was uncharacteristically cold and heavy. She hung up without hesitation.
Meanwhile, Mia and Nina arrived back home.
Vina was sulking, looking utterly dejected.
I tried to give you a surprise, and you just dumped a bucket of ice water on it.”
