Chapter 471
Mia Carter finished her tea with Sarah Gallagher and returned to the dining table.
As the group ate, the conversation between Ethan Hale and Marcus Gallagher remained superficial, drifting through pointless business talk. To Mia, none of these topics required a face-to-face meeting. It was likely they had already discussed the important matters while she was away from the table.
She was no longer part of Bayview Holdings; she wasn’t supposed to be involved in high-level business anyway.
When the dinner ended, Mia followed Ethan to see the Gallagher couple off.
Once they were in their car, Marcus and Sarah rolled down their windows to look at Mia one last time before saying their goodbyes.
‘Mr. Hale, I look forward to our successful cooperation,” Marcus said.
Ethan nodded. “I’ll wait for your good news.”
Mia offered Sarah a small smile. “Goodbye.”
Sarah nodded back. “I’m sure we’ll meet again.”
As their car pulled away, Mia brushed back a strand of hair that had been ruffled by the wind and looked sideways it Ethan.
Mr. Hale, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going.”
Ethan pulled out his car keys. “I’ll drive you back.”
No thanks. It’s easy to catch a ride here,” Mia replied.
Fine.” Seeing the “keep your distance” look on her face, Ethan didn’t push it.
Mia grabbed her bag and turned to leave. She hadn’t walked more than a few steps before Ethan spoke again.
Stay away from Arthur Gallagher and his crowd.”
Mia stopped and looked back at him, but Ethan was already walking toward his car.
Although today was the first time Mia had met Marcus and Sarah, they had left a good impression on her-at least
better one than Arthur Gallagher and his wife had.
Ten minutes later, her ride arrived.
Nina Torres had just finished putting Toby down for his afternoon nap when Mia walked in. She immediately dragged Mia over to ask about the postpartum center.
Mia called the center again. This time, they didn’t make any excuses; they readily agreed to book the room. They paid the fees online and signed the contract. This time, a new clause had been added: if the center broke the contract again, they would have to pay a penalty of one hundred times the deposit.
Mia hadn’t suggested the clause; the center had added it themselves.
‘Problem solved. Now we just wait for the little one to arrive,” Nina said, leaning toward Mia’s belly and giving it a little tap. “You better be a girl, kid. That way we’ll have one of each.”

With the Serenity Postpartum Center finally booked, Mia felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
For the next few weeks, she stayed home and rested. When it was time for her next prenatal checkup, Nina accompanied her to the hospital.
Cole Preston was there to receive them as usual.
