“Breakfast? I would pass, I need to go home to meet my sister, I left home since last night,” I said, already sliding out of bed and glancing around the room for something, to cover myself with. My clothes from the night before were nowhere close, probably scattered somewhere in the corner of this big room.

“Not so fast,” he said, propping himself up on one elbow, watching me with that lazy, unbothered look that told me he had zero plans of letting me walk out of that room anytime soon.

“You only asked for two hours and…” I started, turning to face him properly now, hands on my hips, trying to look firm even though I was standing there with nothing on.

“Stay the whole day,” he cut in. “I even cancelled a meeting because of you.”

I stood there blinking at him, mouth slightly open, trying to figure out what a person was even supposed to say to that. A cancelled meeting was not a small thing for someone in his position, and definitely not something I expected to hear casually tossed out.

“I don’t think I can do that because…” I tried again, but my phone rang loudly from the corner of the room, cutting the sentence.

I moved fast, crossing more than half the room in quick steps, bare feet slapping softly against the floor. Amanda’s name lit up the screen and I picked up immediately, grateful for the interruption, half expecting her to already know something was wrong just from the way I hadn’t come home.

“Hi,” I said, standing there with my back to Adrian, painfully aware that I still had nothing on.

“You found a new house?” Amanda said, voice dripping with that fake harsh tone she always pulled out right before dragging me for something, and I laughed out loud before I could stop myself.

“You sound like you’ve been freshly cracked,” she said, and I couldn’t even argue. I caught my reflection in the mirror beside me and yeah, that was exactly what I looked like. My hair was a mess and my lips was slightly

swollen.

“Wait? That’s true, oh oh oh…” Amanda’s voice went louder in that dramatic way she got whenever she thought she had cracked a mystery, and I could picture exactly how she would be moving right now if I was standing in front of her.

“Where are you?” I asked, trying to steer things somewhere safer, and that was the exact moment I heard footsteps behind me.

Adrian had gotten out of bed, he came up slowly and his hands landed on my waist first like he was asking permission without actually asking anything.

“At your house of course,” Amanda said. “But I called to let you know that we will be going out, me and Emma, in some hours. She said her friend that you knew about sent her a ticket to a show, and I looked it up and girl…” she paused.

Adrian’s lips found the side of my neck, I stiffened slightly, one hand tightening around the phone, the other

reaching back to push at his chest, except my hand landed flat against warm skin and just sort of stayed there instead of actually pushing.

“I couldn’t turn that down,” Amanda continued, completely unaware. “Looks like a rich show with a lot of men obviously.”

“You are so funny,” I said, my voice coming out a touch higher than normal, and behind me Adrian huffed out something that felt like a quiet laugh against my skin, clearly enjoying exactly how much effort it was taking me to sound normal.

“So who is this her friend?” she asked.

“I…” My voice trailed off completely as his mouth moved slower this time against my neck, it was obvious that he had decided right then to make this as difficult as possible for me.

“Uhmm.” A small moan slipped out before I could catch it, it was soft but definitely not quiet enough for a phone pressed directly against my ear.

It would have made perfect sense to just say his name but he was standing right there, hands sliding slightly further around my waist now, and as much as I didn’t want him getting ideas about what exactly I was hiding, I also didn’t want him knowing that my own sister who he called his little friend had no clue he was my boss, or that I had known him outside those hospital walls long before any of this started.

I pressed my free hand harder against his chest, and he responded by pulling me back slightly into him instead, his chin dropping to rest against my shoulder.

“Bianca, am I interrupting something?” Amanda asked in a teasing tone like she could hear exactly what was happening on my end even though there was nothing to physically hear beyond my breathing losing its rhythm.

“I will send you a text message,” I said quickly, stepping forward out of his hold with more force than I meant to, and ended the call right there before she could ask anything else.

I turned around to find him standing exactly where I left him, arms crossed loosely, looking entirely too pleased with himself.

“You did that on purpose,” I said, pointing an accusing finger at him.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said trying to fake an innocent face but his smirk sold him off.

“You’re no fun,” I muttered, shaking my head and turning away to actually search for something to wear, because standing there arguing with him while naked was clearly not helping my case.

My eyes landed on his shirt from earlier this morning, tossed over the back of a chair.

“Can I?” I asked, picking it up and gesturing toward myself.

“Oh yes sure, you can wear that,” he said, eyes moving slowly over me. “I would prefer you like this but yeah, you can.”

I rolled my eyes and pulled it over my head, letting it fall down my body. It smelled like him and that? I
