At half-past six that evening, they met at a quiet, exclusive private dining restaurant.

Valentin dressed casually in a light gray t-shirt with his hair neatly styled, looking less like a billionaire executive and much more approachable.

"I'll be going out of the country for a while," Valentin mentioned as he offered her a side dish.

Virginia looked up at him. "A business trip?"

"You could say that. There are a few overseas issues that need my direct supervision. I might be gone for two or three months," he explained with a soft smile, purposely omitting any mention of the price war. "I just wanted to let you know in person."

"When are you leaving?" she asked, setting her silverware down.

"Tomorrow. The schedule is pretty tight."

She nodded, offering earnest advice. "Take care of yourself, and make sure to pack some warm clothes."

Valentin chuckled softly, his long fingers tracing the rim of his cup.

"Virginia."

"Yes?"

"While I'm away, I want you to think about something very carefully," he said, his gaze turning complex and profound. "I need you to figure out if you truly want to be with me."

Virginia furrowed her brows slightly, keeping silent.

"You don't have to answer me right now. Just give me your answer when I get back."

"Whatever you decide, I will accept it."

A heavy silence lingered in the air for a few seconds.

Virginia took a sip of her drink, her thick lashes masking the swirl of emotions in her eyes. "Okay."

Valentin left it at that, shifting the conversation to ask about Cynthia.

The tension dissipated, and the atmosphere grew light once more.

After dropping Virginia off at her apartment building, Valentin prepared to leave.
