Why didn't that van kill her on the spot?!
"Archer, you haven't rested properly in days. You should go home and get some sleep."
Chloe stepped forward, her tone dripping with fake sympathy. She then glanced at the bed. "Virginia is always so careless. She didn't even look out for traffic when crossing the street, and now look what happened. She's got everyone worried sick and dragged you into this mess."
Her words clearly implied Virginia had brought this upon herself.
Archer stopped wiping. He furrowed his brows, locking a glacial stare directly onto Chloe's face.
"Shut up."
Exhaustion from days without sleep made his deep voice sound rough and raspy.
Chloe's face froze. Her eyes instantly welled up, and she shot a wronged look at Madeline.
Madeline had looked somewhat worried when she walked in, but now she was displeased.
"Archer, Chloe came to see Virginia out of the goodness of her heart. She was just worried about you and said something a bit tactless. How could you speak to her like that?"
"Besides, she's not entirely wrong. Virginia spaced out and got hit. Are you going to blame Chloe for that too?"
Archer stood up, his tall frame emitting a suffocating wave of pressure.
He stared at the mother and daughter with icy eyes and stated bluntly, "You are not welcome here. Get out!"
Madeline trembled with anger. "You! I am her biological mother!"
Archer looked at her with pure apathy, a flash of mockery passing through his eyes.
But he didn't say another word. He just grabbed his suit jacket off the back of the chair and strode out of the room.
Out in the hallway, Zachary Cole saw him and immediately handed over a file.
