His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 240

The phone next to her vibrated.

"She's awake." Liam's voice seeped with malice.

She froze. Her fist clenched violently, digging her nails into her palm.

Grabbing a nearby vase, she smashed it against the floor and shrieked, "You useless piece of trash! You couldn't even run over one woman! I thought you said this was foolproof!"

Liam fell silent for a moment before a low, sinister chuckle came through the speaker. "Calm down, Chloe. She got lucky the crash didn't kill her. But now she's stuck in a hospital bed—doesn't that make her an easier target?"

Chloe's eyes were bloodshot, radiating pure madness. "I want her dead! Right now!"

"Whatever you want." Liam's tone was indulgent. "As long as you're happy, even if you want the moon, I'll find a way to bring it to you."

......

At Capital City General Hospital, inside the VIP ward.

Archer sat down by the bed and casually opened the thermos that Mrs. Higgins from the main estate had sent over. He ladled out a bowl of light scallop and pork soup.

He stirred it gently with a spoon, the steam softening the harsh lines of his face.

Scooping up a spoonful, he blew on it before holding it up to Virginia's lips.

Virginia frowned. "Archer, I can feed myself."

She had hit her head, not broken her arms.

Archer's hand hovered in the air, completely still.

After a few seconds of a staring contest, she couldn't handle the awkwardness anymore. She quickly leaned forward and swallowed the spoonful of soup.

A flash of pain crossed his eyes. He set the bowl down, grabbed a tissue to wipe the corner of her mouth, and locked his gaze on her pale face.

"Virginia." His Adam's apple bobbed. He hesitated for a long time before speaking. "You never read that file, did you?"
