His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 250

Although that disgusting encounter had momentarily soured the mood, the arrival of the impeccably crafted dishes managed to coax a genuine smile back onto Virginia's face.

Archer picked up the elegant teacup in front of him, arching an eyebrow as he glanced at Miles.

"Are you alright?"

Miles’ hand faltered on his fork, the horrific memories from years ago suddenly ricocheting through his brain.

His parents' vicious screaming, their greedy faces as they tried to force his sister into a transaction marriage, and the deafening roar of the massive truck slamming into him...

That suffocating, bottomless despair threatened to drag him violently back into the abyss.

Beneath the table, Virginia accurately found his hand and gave it a firm, reassuring squeeze.

Miles snapped his head around. Meeting her calm, grounded gaze, the rigid tension locking his muscles finally shattered.

He pulled his lips into a strained smile. "I'm fine, really. Just seeing them out of nowhere... it threw me off for a second."

Relieved, Virginia let go of his hand, picked up the serving fork, and selected a pristine cut of fish. She meticulously removed every tiny bone before placing the tender cod onto Miles' plate.

"Eat up. You've lost way too much weight lately. The concert took a massive toll on you. I'll have Mrs. Benson make you a nutrient-dense soup tomorrow to help you recover."

"...You're the best, Ginny!" Miles’ face lit up instantly as he practically inhaled the food.

Archer’s gaze locked intensely onto that piece of cod. He watched in silence as Miles shoved it into his mouth, his own fist slowly clenching under the table.

An imperceptible frown carved into his brow as he shifted his dark gaze to Virginia.

From the moment they sat down, she hadn't spared him a single glance. Every ounce of her attention was completely monopolized by Miles...

The phone resting on the table suddenly vibrated, the screen flashing with a call from Julian Caldwell, the Chief Legal Officer.

Archer answered the call, and Zachary Cole’s overly respectful voice filtered through. "Mr. Vanderbilt, you have a video conference regarding the cross-border M&A deal at 2:00 PM..."

"Delay it."

Before Zachary could even finish his sentence, Archer cut the call with lethal coldness.

He tossed his phone onto the table carelessly, picked up the serving silverware, and smoothly transferred a piece of perfectly glazed BBQ ribs directly onto Virginia's small plate, his face an absolute mask of indifference.

Virginia glanced down at the ribs, murmured a quiet "Thank you," and immediately turned to flag down a server.
