His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 260

It was better to let Clementine discover the truth and make her own decisions.

...

While Archer went into the kitchen to cook, Virginia sat cross-legged on the sofa, a slim laptop resting on her lap. The screen was filled with dense English academic journals.

She scrolled through the text with her mouse.

Suddenly, her phone rang next to her. The name 'Kian Shaw' flashed on the screen.

Keeping her eyes glued to the laptop, Virginia instinctively tapped the answer button and put him on speakerphone.

"Virginia," Kian's gentle voice drifted through the speaker. "How is your recovery going? Do you still have headaches?"

"Much better. Thank you, Dr. Shaw," Virginia replied, briefly glancing toward the kitchen before answering.

She had almost called him "senior." If that word had slipped out, a man as sharp as Archer would figure out their connection instantly.

She wondered if he had heard her...

Kian didn't seem to notice the slip and continued, "I found some leads regarding the car crash. The van that hit you had fake plates, and the driver is a heavy gambler. In his bank accounts..."

Virginia paused, a cold light flickering in her eyes. But before she could speak, a low, deliberate male voice interrupted.

"Come eat, Ginny. The soup is getting cold."

Archer had noticed her phone ringing from the very start.

Glancing at the screen, he had narrowed his deep eyes and purposely spoken with an incredibly intimate tone.

On the other end of the line, Kian's voice stopped dead.

After a brief silence, Kian spoke hoarsely. "Are you... back together with him?"

Virginia frowned and shot Archer a glare.

The man looked back at her innocently, as if his comment had been entirely casual.
