A knock sounded at the office door. Upon receiving permission, the door pushed open.

Liam Kendrick strode in. The moment his eyes landed on Archer, a sharp flash of jealousy crossed his gaze.

Taking a deep breath to bury his resentment, Liam walked up to the desk, his expression twisting into one of heavy concern.

"Archer, what is going on with you lately? Chloe has been completely devastated these past few days. The staff at the Caldwell estate told me she refused to eat dinner last night and locked herself in her room."

Hearing this, Archer's grip on his fountain pen paused. He closed the file folder, raising his eyes to meet Liam's, his voice entirely devoid of emotion. "I'll have Zachary contact a therapist and send a medical team over."

"What good is a medical team?!" Liam snapped, his brow furrowing deeply. "What Chloe needs right now is you! This is emotional trauma; she needs emotional support, don't you get that?!"

The more Liam spoke, the angrier he became. But knowing he couldn't take it out on Archer directly, he scoffed and let his true thoughts spill out. "What is so great about Virginia anyway?"

"She's cold-blooded and selfish. You two divorced over five years ago, and now, knowing perfectly well what you and Chloe mean to each other, she actually has the nerve to come crawling back to seduce you! That shameless homewrecker..."

"Liam!"

Archer's eyes darkened to a terrifying pitch, his voice radiating an unrestrained, bone-chilling fury.

The temperature in the office plummeted to freezing in an instant.

"Watch your words!" He stared Liam down, enunciating every syllable. "You are crossing a line."

It was the predatory gaze of a man accustomed to holding absolute power. Liam felt a cold sweat break out across his back. It felt as though cotton had been shoved down his throat, leaving him completely unable to speak for a long moment.

He had known Archer for years, but he had rarely seen him lose his temper, let alone throw away their brotherhood over a woman...
