His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 289

Virginia watched his focused expression, her mind involuntarily flashing back to moments from their previous marriage.

He had been like this back then, too. Although he appeared cold and distant on the outside, he would do everything in his power to offer her respect and companionship. He would go to the market with her after work to pick out groceries, and occasionally, he would even cook for her...

A long-lost sense of stability and sweetness blossomed in her chest. It felt as though everything had come full circle.

About seven or eight minutes later, a bowl of rich, savory mushroom and scallop broth, along with two exquisitely plated side dishes, was set down in front of her.

Archer remembered she wasn't a fan of seafood, so he had used just a tiny amount of scallops purely to enhance the flavor.

As she lowered her head to eat, Archer stood opposite the island, quietly watching her.

"Are you going to the office this afternoon?" she asked, feeling slightly self-conscious under his intense stare. She swallowed a mouthful of the warm broth, desperate for a change of subject.

"Yeah, I have a multinational conference call." Seeing a speck of creamy broth lingering on the corner of her lips, his eyes darkened, and his Adam's apple bobbed heavily.

Virginia nodded. She pinched the porcelain spoon and was just about to take another bite when Archer suddenly rounded the kitchen island and strode toward her.

Virginia blinked. "?"

Before she could even react, she felt a sudden weightlessness as he scooped her up into his arms.

"Archer!" she gasped, instinctively throwing her arms around his neck.

The man stared at her rosy lips for a few seconds before turning and striding confidently back toward the master bedroom. She opened her mouth to protest, but he suddenly dipped his head and bit gently into the side of her neck, silencing her words before they could even escape.

He had been starved of this for years, and now that he finally had a taste, he was absolutely insatiable.

...

At 3 PM, inside the glass conservatory on the top floor of a private club.

Virginia wore a high-necked, moon-white modern Qipao. Her long hair was left down, barely managing to conceal the love bites scattered across her neck.
