His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 301

The Sky Lounge in the heart of the city.

Outside, the heatwave rolled in, but inside, the air conditioning was blasting, carrying the rich aroma of Royal Oolong.

Chairman Sterling of the Sterling Heights Group sat across the table, his face plastered with a wide smile as he poured Archer Vanderbilt a cup of Royal Oolong.

"Mr. Vanderbilt, I heard you and your wife... haven't been getting along lately?" Chairman Sterling probed, his boldness growing when the man across from him remained silent.

"Honestly, I've always thought the Caldwells' adopted daughter wasn't good enough for you. What do you think of my Mandy? She just came back from an Ivy League school with dual master's degrees. She's stunning and incredibly capable."

Archer leaned back in his chair, his dark gray custom-tailored shirt free of a single crease.

He rested his right hand on the armrest, while the long fingers of his left hand methodically toyed with the beaded bracelet around his wrist.

"Chairman Sterling," the man's voice was low, carrying a natural, icy distance. "You don't need to worry about my personal affairs."

Chairman Sterling's face stiffened, and he forced a dry laugh. "Right, right, I was just bringing it up. Mandy has admired you since she was a little girl..."

"If you're here to discuss the Southside development project, I'm all ears. If you want to talk about anything else... Zachary, see the Chairman out."

Chairman Sterling quickly shut his mouth and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

He thought that was the end of it.

But two days later, at a golf course owned by the Vanderbilt Group.

Archer had just finished his swing. He tossed the club to the caddie, turning around only to see Chairman Sterling walking over with a young woman.

The woman was wearing a white Chanel golf outfit from the latest season. The pleated skirt barely covered her thighs, her makeup was flawless, and she was holding a bottle of Evian water.

"Archer, it's been so long." Mandy stepped forward with a bright smile, naturally offering him the water. "You must be tired from playing. Have some water."

Archer didn't take it.

His dark gaze lingered on Mandy's face for less than a second before moving past her to look at Chairman Sterling.
