His Wicked Obsession (Archer and Virginia) novel Chapter 307

Mandy stood in the center of the stage, holding an expensive violin. When she saw the two of them appear, she took a deep breath and raised her bow.

A passionate, soaring melody soon echoed through the hall.

She had chosen an incredibly difficult piece, showing off her technical prowess with every single note.

Her movements were dramatic, perfectly highlighting what she considered to be her flawless curves.

When she finished, the room erupted into applause.

Looking like a triumphant general, Mandy tilted her chin up and looked right through the crowd, aiming her gaze directly at Archer.

She had performed in public solely to make sure he saw her shine, and to prove to him that Virginia wasn't good enough for him!

However.

Archer wasn't even looking at her.

He had his head bowed slightly, using a dark blue checkered handkerchief to gently wipe a drop of spilled juice from Virginia's fingers.

His expression was utterly focused, as if no one else in the room existed.

Mandy's face drained of all color, and her hand trembled violently around the bow.

She had lost, but she refused to accept it!

She was going to make Archer notice her! He was going to have eyes for her and her alone!

Right at that moment, Archer's phone buzzed in his pocket.

He paused, put the handkerchief away, and pulled out his phone.

It was Chloe.

Virginia's eyes lingered on the name for a fraction of a second before she took a half-step back, putting some distance between them.

The lingering, intimate tension from moments ago vanished instantly.

Archer's eyes darkened, his lips pressing into a thin line.

The phone kept buzzing. It was Virginia, cool and rational, who prompted him, "You should answer that. It might be an emergency."
