"Waaah!"
A sharp cry of pain tore from Cynthia's throat as she burst into hysterical tears.
Virginia's heart dropped. She immediately crouched down, pulling Cynthia into her arms to check on her.
A patch of skin had been scraped clean off the little girl's delicate forehead, bright beads of blood already welling up from the cut.
She shot a lethal glare at Eleanor. Beneath her reddened eyes lay uncontrollable fury and utter revulsion. "Mrs. Sutton, you crossed the line!"
She had long since lost all hope in the Suttons. The only reason she had ever tolerated them was out of respect for her past. Now, they had completely obliterated whatever tiny shred of sympathy she had left.
By now, several neighbors had gathered in the hallway.
Seeing someone pull out a phone to record the scene, Richard's face burned with embarrassment. He shot Virginia a venomous glare and forcefully tugged on Eleanor's arm.
Just as he tried to drag his wife away, the elevator doors slid open, and a man stepped out.
Wearing a tailored light-khaki cashmere overcoat and a black turtleneck, the impeccable fit highlighted his towering, imposing physique.
It was Archer.
One hand was shoved casually into his pocket, while the other carried an elegantly designed gift bag. His assistant, Zachary Cole, trailed closely behind him.
Seeing the absolute chaos in the hallway, he halted. His gaze swept straight past the Suttons, landing heavily on Virginia, who was crouched by the door, clutching a sobbing Cynthia.
He shoved the gift bag into Zachary's hands, a deep frown carving into his face as he marched forward.
He didn't even grant Richard and Eleanor a passing glance as he strode past them.
Virginia picked Cynthia up, preparing to rush her inside to treat the wound, but froze in surprise when she saw him.
Archer stopped right in front of her. The moment his eyes landed on the bleeding scrape on Cynthia's forehead, his pupils contracted sharply.
Without uttering a single word, his jaw locked tight, and he cast a slow, glacial look over his shoulder at the Suttons.
Just one look.
The suffocating, predatory dominance radiating from him instantly choked the words right out of Eleanor's throat. She couldn't even breathe.
Richard turned completely pale. Retreating in sheer terror, he dragged his wife into the elevator, his fingers shaking violently as he smashed the button to close the doors.
