Chloe looked absolutely terrified, even shrinking back against her headboard before awkwardly biting her lip and speaking in a sickeningly sweet voice.

"Virginia... I, I don't blame you... I know you didn't do it on purpose."

She turned her gaze to Archer on the sofa. With a red nose and shining eyes, she cooed, "Archer, you really didn't lie to me. She actually came to apologize."

Looking back at Virginia, she added, "Since you came all this way, could you stay and chat with me in private? Just for a few minutes."

Archer set his teacup down and looked at Virginia.

Frowning slightly, Archer stood up and walked out, pulling the door shut behind him.

The second the latch clicked into place, the atmosphere inside the room violently shifted.

Chloe tilted her head at Virginia. Every ounce of her innocent, fragile facade melted away, instantly replaced by sheer, arrogant malice.

Leaning smugly against her pillows, she flaunted her heavily bandaged arm and let out a vicious scoff.

"It really hurts, to be honest. But hey, it was totally worth it for the results."

Virginia stood rooted to the spot, her expression unreadable.

"You're probably dying to know why I forced you to come down here and grovel, aren't you?"

"Because it's fun." Chloe giggled, her tone light and dripping with triumphant glee. "Did you seriously think that little tumble onto the street was an accident? I did it on purpose."

"I purposefully provoked you, waiting for you to lose your temper, and then... I threw myself into traffic. Hell, I even paid that driver to hit me!"

Her eyes flashed with venomous hatred, her voice dropping into a lethal sneer. "That's what you get for constantly trying to steal a man who belongs to me!"
