"Axel is Tarquin's right-hand man, practically a brother to him. He's been out of town on business recently. As for Blossom... I think it was essentially love at first sight."

Elysia hesitated for a moment before giving him the unvarnished truth.
"I don't know for sure. From what I hear, he has some feelings for her, but whether they'll actually end up together is another story."
The despair in Lancelot's eyes deepened.
"She'd rather choose a gamble that might go nowhere than choose me."
Elysia's heart ached for him. She struggled to find the right words to soothe the massive blow to his ego and heart. After a long beat, she finally spoke.
"She's always seen you as family, Lancelot. In her eyes, you're the closest thing she has to a brother."
"The fact that she was totally honest with you means she respects you too much to keep you on the hook as a backup plan. She cares about you deeply."
Lancelot drew in a sharp breath, his eyes rimmed with red.
"I know she cares. But... I've loved her for so long. There's literally no room left in me to love anyone else."
"When we were kids, we used to play house in this very courtyard. She was always my bride. Since then, I've never pictured a future with anyone else."
