Hitched & Hitched Again: A Comedy of Marital Mayhem novel Chapter 1839

Tarquin and Lowell frowned, their hearts aching with worry.

Benjamin pointed at the monitor on the bedside table and said.

"Don't worry. Even though he looks terrible, you can see that his vital signs are slowly returning to normal."

"Right now, aside from being extremely weak, there is no threat to his life. Once he wakes up, he just needs plenty of rest and recovery."

Neither Lowell nor Tarquin understood medicine, so they couldn't read the data.

They stood there with furrowed brows, staring at the unconscious Axel like two older brothers watching over their little sibling, their eyes filled with pain.

Axel had always been in perfect health. This disaster was entirely man-made!

Every single injury on his body had been brutally inflicted upon him!

He was nearly beaten to death.

A chunk of flesh was even missing from his leg!

The agony he must have endured in those moments was unimaginable.

Tarquin knitted his brows tightly, his heart aching more with every thought.

He let out a heavy sigh and gently patted Axel's head, his movements tender, his voice affectionate.

"You did great. You stayed strong and pulled through. Wake up soon, and your brother will give you a surprise."

Stepping out of the ICU, Tarquin walked to the smoking area at the end of the corridor and lit a cigarette.

His mental state had been atrocious lately, and he couldn't help but smoke more than usual.

As he smoked, Tarquin called Soren.

Soren answered, and Tarquin immediately apologized.

"Soren, sorry to bother you so late."

Soren didn't sound tired at all. In fact, he sounded incredibly energized.

"No bother at all. I haven't even rested yet!"
